    USB Microscope...this isn't the one...

Do not buy the unit I did. Stupid thing was junk, not even useful if you had little kids interested in science. Already been repackaged and returned to them.

Prime is paying off just in returns, lol. I have zero problems returning shit that does not work. I am ex-customer service veteran and I know exactly how to either get what I want or ruin someone's day. It's always their choice if they feel lucky, lol.

Why was it junk? I got the the cheapest one, they're all the same only different. Works fine they just have a bit of a learning curve. Did you take off the opaque lens cover? Click image for larger version

Lol, Yes, took off the lens-cap (I am dying laughing)

The only part of the entire thing that is metal is the ball-socket in part of the stand, and that collapsed like a bad Jenga.
The focus wheel didn't do anything except bum me out. If they are all the same, I will get a $10 model. What app does it use to interface with your device? In a perfect world, I can reverse-locate the brand by going backward from the app. Or at least trying.
Because that is one little hot-potato of a capture.

I bought a similar one. It's just too damn hard to use it hand-held unless you have an assistant at the ready to hit the button when you finally get it in focus.

Well, their not great..but can produce some good pics for trich identification. A very steady microscope is crucial. The mount is trash, but if you fart around and get it set, then move the bud to the camera then focus..snap the pic from your phone so your not touching the scope. The App i used was Max-see. LOL..exact same box, just a Name added. A knock -off of a knock-off of a knock-off....

homegrown Yours is the one I got, with a different name - not Skybasic. The graphics on the box are even the same. I discovered I can take some decent photos with what I already have - and I have a camera that I haven't tried. I've fooled around with the macro setting on my 35mm DSLR, as well as lighting. I have a few weeks to figure it out. May just get a loupe. I want to grow great buds, but if I shoot bud-porn, I can live with it.

I have tried half a dozen mini microscopes. Seems like I have a small fortune invested in them. None of them are very easy to use IMHO, except this one. It clips to the phone, has a light, works with the camera zoom on the phone, and is easy to use. I use that and a jewelers loupe.

This thing might be the answer. If it's not, it still cost less than a shitty gram of weed at the retail store, LOL

You have to get real close to the plant with this thing but you can def get some great views of the trichomes with it.

Accidental, I was gonna say yesterday... This is my tried and true loupe: all glass and metal, no fuckin plastic. It's a triplet loupe, total quality. All those plastic pieces of shite from China are liars: you can't see anything at 100x. The lens would have to be the size of a pinhead.

I enjoy when my tools to have more than one use, and the idea of being able to bring it into the yard and take pictures of all the other stuff out there was the siren's song that crashed me on the rocks.
I had looked at the actual microscopes, too. All the things we could look at! Except my kids are 24 and 29 and bugs in the yard are no longer amazing to them. Now I just annoy them when I yell, "OMG, come look at this!" I can hear the eye-rolling from outdoors, lol.
However, I forgot I have a number of cameras that do different things. Not on purpose; I just hate getting rid of anything and now I can't remember what I got rid of or when I did it. Maybe one will do what I need. Also, coincidentally getting a new phone this week, so I'll just wait. Maybe I'll just send the kids out to the tent with a scope and tell them what to look for, as we all have to keep doing our part

I like that thingamadoodle that golfnrl has...low tech is preferable if it works. I have a Foley roasting pan with an articulating rack that dates back to antiquity. I have been offered big bucks for it and had people ask me to will it to them when I die.
Now I check backpacks when people leave

Low-tech all the way for me!

You never know what's good to keep around. This year I've put two air pumps I never really used into action along with other cheaper stuff I bought and forgot about after it didn't suit the original purpose it was bought for.
