    Forcing Sex Reveal?

I’ve seen some conversations regarding growers forcing a new plant to reveal its sex early in the game. They say to do this you must take a plant in an early veg cycle (6+ nodes) and switch them to a 12/12 light cycle for a few days before reverting back to 18/6.

On person suggested 12/12 for a week whereas another suggested 24 no light then 12/12 for 2 days.

Has anyone heard of or used this technique. Figured I’d find more reliable information here vs. Instagram. Thanks y’all.

It definitely works although I don't think 3 days is enough to reliably call it. You will have to deal with revegging as well. Basically your plant isn't going to do much (that you can see) for the few days while it changes hormonally and starts to flower where it will show sex then when you put it back under 18/6 you can expect very little growth for 2-3 weeks more before it takes back off in veg. I would take clones and flip them as soon as they're rooted well and the clones will tell you which plants are ladies and by then they will be much larger than if you had flipped them into and out of flower and caused much stress to the plants.

ETA - You're essentially looking at up to a month of basically stalling out growth to learn the sex doing it the way you describe. That might not be an issue for you and it will work just fine.

Thanks for the reply! Me personally I’m about 2 weeks away from flipping so I’m not too concerned. Just saw people talking about it and thought I would ask over here. Unfortunately I don’t have a 2nd tent to do the clone idea but it’s nice to know that’s an option in the future.

One can do that, however it takes 2 weeks for the change, and then 2 more weeks to change them back, then 2 more weeks again. You loose 4 weeks of grow time.
