Just bought my first ever clone and have had it for about a week now in which it was about 8" tall. I've noticed some of the leaves have turned yellow at the tips and dried up so I cut the tips off. Now I see whole leaves starting to turn and a couple starting to droop. I put it outside every morning and take it back in at dusk which is about 16 hours per day in the sun. The temps lately have been at or above 90° also. The guy I bought it from said to not over water it to where the soil is drenched which I haven't. That's about all I know and need help/advise soon. I plan on planting it outside but living here in Oregon where I am it gets really hot in the summertime. Here's a pic of it. Oh, it's a Blue Dream.

I can't really tell the size of the pot she's in, but she looks a little sunburned. What is she planted in? Do you have a place with dappled shade outside? I'd gradually introduce the full summer sun over about a week or 10 days, then transplant into the final pot and let her grow! We're past the solstice, so the light is leaving.

It's a pretty small pot but I was told to put it where it got full sun all day. Today I put her in under a tree but where the sun can peak through now and then. Only thing I'm worried about now is today and tomorrow we are suppose to get up to 100°. I could take her inside if that is too hot. I do have a much larger pot(at least 5 gal) so should I transplant now or wait until it cools off in a few days when it's around 80°? OH, I forgot to answer what she is planted in, I do not know exactly what the grower put in there but I can get whatever kind of soil she needs.

I think you need to repot asap. Fox farms ocean forest soil is what I use but you can use regular potting soil from Walmart even. You’ll probably need to feed nutrients, but fox farms has enough for the first month before you’ll need to feed them. There’s people here that grow with miracle gro, there is no “wrong” soil(obviously there is but you sound like you’ve got common sense). Just make sure you add perlite to whatever you use so your soil can stay aerated and doesn’t compact as much.
Also, as I understand it, cutting the tips of leaves stops their growth, but any deficiencies/issues will continue

Thanks for that info. I can get some Ocean Forest or Happy Frog or both, They seem to be the same. I do have perlite also. Can you tell me if 100° is too hot and also about how much water and frequency for say a 5gal pot?

Right now she doesn’t need much, and it’s mostly just by feel. In a 5 gallon right now maybe 3-4 cups every 4-5 days, they don’t need as much when they’re young and in a big pot, it won’t get used up. Once she starts exploring the pot and I have to water more/more frequently I go by how heavy my pot is. You can tell if it’s dry after a few times handling them wet and dry, but you can get a probe meter, do the dry finger test or even watch for them to start drooping a little before you water. Just to learn her needs though, too much stress can create issues. I’m high and probably rambling haha, but for the record I’m still in my first grow, just things I’ve picked up. I’ll offer any knowledge I have to anyone that needs it. There’s also a lot of websites out there. YouTube is amazing!

If you can get the soil to about 2" from the top, more room for big roots! Your tap water might be OK, but you should check the pH and keep it between about 6.2 and 6.9 every watering. Check this out..https://www.growweedeasy.com/cannabi...h-fluctuations
