HELP! Photo plants showing signs of early flowering?

    Hello,

First-time grower here. I have two photo plants that seem to be in "pre flower", however, they are only on week 5 of vegetation. I reside in the New England area and these have been outside for about 3 weeks. Can this be possible, should I start changing nutrients for bloom stage??

These both were started indoors and have been very healthy. Some nights have been in the mid-40s about a week ago but also they've seen days in the 80s. Light has not been an issue as they are receiving about 8-9 hours of direct sun and just over 16 hours of daylight. I've also been LSTing regularly with success.

Strains are Harlequin and CBD Blueberry both from grower's choice.

    Any insight is appreciated.

    Thanks!

Hello and welcome to the GWE forum where you get clear as mud answers from some, BS from others and those that grow outdoors right now are facing the same issue as you are.

All my outdoor photo plants were clones I took Jan. & Feb. vegged in a tent since then set out in greenhouse in April do to the short days flowering started. I am waiting them out treating them as being in veg. stage that's how i'm doing it. I'm just going ahead with the grow as if they didn't pre flower. That's about all I can do for them and they look strange all bushy and weird leaf but it's normal change. And I have no idea how they will turn out later in the fall. Good Luck, ask away.

Thanks for the response, very helpful! So will you continue to feed heavy N vs. PK, or Switch to PK?

109Peter this is only the second time it's ever happened to my outdoor growing for 30+ yrs so I don't do any different others may as you can see. Yes I feed fish/guano poo teas high in N but that's me and I have other back up plants. To me at this point it's a crap shoot could be good harvest in fall ( not as good as it could of been with normal plants ) or they could all be just OK with possible no good seeds in them or hermies. Sorry you are going to get few different thoughts on this subject. These guys have a lot more expertise with this event I don't so i'm going to let nature take it course they are revegging although one is not.

I have just harvested 2 of the plants that were to go all summer, 4 more almost there. These are a mix of clones and from seed, flowered under 14/10s, so I sat them outside and started new seed. These plants are in flower or preflower now, I am going just the opposite of SoOrbudgal I am treating them as they will stay in flower. Today is 14H 30 M, in 4 days we will be at 14H 37M for (IIRC) 10 days then the days start to grow short. More seeds planted, a few autos and some photos!
With your plants on 16/8s, you may have autos. Seed banks make mistakes.

Like I said above i'm just running these as they are because I do have backup plants to make up for our pantry stocks. I've watched youtube videos on this subject recently those folks have 5ft. early flowering and they are letting them ride out the revegg. I'm in so. Oregon these folks are in Nor Cal near same climate/daylight hrs. our daylight hrs are long enough now to do this.

Update: Although these girls bloomed waaaay to early in the season, I'm pretty happy with the outcome so far. Both have taken off this month and are about 3 weeks into flowering. Buds are stacking, however, both are dwarfs of what they could have been..

Lesson learned with photos and transitioning from lights to outdoors relatively early in the season

Luckily, I have two autos, Gorilla Glue and Hindu Kush both doing well.

Big thanks to all the help received!

Way to stick it out 109Peter my photos are in transition still from early pre flower but are growing slowly. I'm in So. Oregon so unless it freezes or snows in Oct. these of mine will go into a green house. Yep even me a old outdoor grower makes huge error doing it too early. Yes i also came prepared for a possible disaster, back up plants.
