    Reusing coco perlite mix

Hey all, I have a question, I read in coco coir growing medium that it can be used again. So how to do it? The later plant would leave roots inside. Wouldn't they make it hard for new plant to establish roots? Should there be any clean up involve?

Im only on my second grow and im by far a pro lol but I’m re using the same coco/ perlite that I used the first time around just clean as much of the roots out as you can. I’m halfway thru veg on my second grow and everything seems to be going just fine I would however suggest changing it after 2 or 3 uses as I’ve read it is okay to re use a couple times but I wouldn’t much more than that.

Alright! That experience helps. I read so many stuff but I am just gonna wash it with plain ph water and replenish it with CalMag and put it to use. Thanks for the help.

I reuse coco for 4 to 5 plants

let it dry out, from the Underside dig from the middle spreading the root ball, use a spray bottle with water to mist the air and coco as you separated. When you feel you have gotten a good amount throw the root ball away, turn your coco pile and remove large root clumps, I have found that you are beating a dead horse at a point and adding new coco/perlite to your old mix helps replenish and renew without the frustration of digging to a lot of roots out.

if you flush your plants at the end of a grow with plain Ph'ed water you can go right to the next pot.

I dried it out totally. I didn't flush for week in last grow. It was drinking everyday. I gave it plain water thrice after that I had to chop down. What do you think about drying it out spread-ed in sunlight? I read about filtering out coco which broke down and became dust. Mr.furley

You can, you can even wash it. I just keep turning the pile.
