    What To Do?

Good Day GWE Family! Happy to say that with all the help I've gotten from this wonderful site and all the great advice from all of you I'm close to harvesting my very 1st plant. I've been checking trichomes daily and I'll be posting some pics as soon as I can get on the wifi and get them downloaded but I have a little issue...a lot of my top/older buds look real close to being ready-still a few clear trichs but mostly cloudy and about half of the pistols are brown which according to GWE the harvest window would mean she is ready to flush...but half of the buds on this plant are younger/lower on the canopy and not close to being ready-nearly all white pistols and clear trichs.
So, can I take the top buds and leave the others to mature? If so, what about flushing? She needs water today and I'm sure I need to start flushing due to what I'm seeing on the mature buds. Can I flush for a week or less and still go back to feeding for the other buds or will that not work?

Yes you can definitely harvest the top and leave the rest to mature.
I'd just comment that flushing isn't always necessary. It depends how the plant has been treated and fed in the past. Flushing is designed to clear the soil/growing medium of excess nutrients, N in particular, to avoid any harsh taste that comes with overfed plants.

Flushing doesn't flush anything directly out of the plant in any way. Just out of the medium. So it depends how nutrient rich your growing medium is, whether you need to flush or not.

If/when there is little or no plant food left in the pot, then at that point the plant starts to feed off it's own foliage and will start to turn yellow and change colour as most plants do in the fall. In this way, feeding off the older foliage, your buds will find plenty enough food for the small amount of growing they have left. So yes- your plants will still have some food left to finish with.

IMO flushing is only necessary for plants that have been overfed. It's not exactly a myth, but it is over promoted. I don't personally flush except for the occasional emergency problem. I just taper off the feeding towards the end. If a plant seems to have been fed on the high side then I give it water-only for the last part of flowering. Usually though I just keep it on a trace diet of flowering nutes right through to harvest.

So at this point - flush if you think you want to/need to. Then probably you want to give her a water-only diet right through till everything is harvested.
You can watch the leaves yellow up and the buds will get riper and more sticky as the plant finishes.

Weasel is right, you could never flush all the nutrients out of soil.

        Howdy Dudette!

You have done great and think of all you learned this grow! From now on the buds just get better because of the learning curve on the first grow.

Flushing is to help make the plant clean itself out at the end of a grow (maybe, it's not written in stone) I like the idea so it's part of my grow to maybe get some harshness out of the flower. I've gone from 1 week and in-between and I think my next harvest, ph'd water in the dark for 2 days and then harvest.

The whole thing is determined by what you've learned the 1,2,3 ect. grows. I've seen people set in the way someone set them up and never change, you want to learn why the plant responds to what you are doing to it.

Don't worry about taking buds off while some are still growing it won't have the major effect you think, the next grow could be the same seeds but what you learned last time will make the next grow better buds.

Have fun with it she'll teach you to be calm if you let her.

Karlee, I totally agree: we have to learn to be cannabis whisperers and hear/see/feel what they communicate to us.

Thanks for the info guys and gals. Here's some pics of the buds & trichs with the clear ones being on the less mature lower buds and the cloudy ones on the upper buds..

Thanks. I used this clip on microscope that clips on your phone right over the camera lens. It works pretty good but it's a real small area of view and you have to press it right against what you're looking at. I ordered one that I think will be better that came today so I'm gonna try it and I'll post some pics of how it works.

I pulled her out and got some close up pics with my flash turned on. I can't bring her out of the grow room cause she stinks to high heaven Lol. She'll stink up the whole house in 3 mins flat! I sacrificed one of my lights in this room to use for a vent into the ceiling so I only have one regular incandescent light in there. I'm loving these new leds but they suck for pics and any little imperfections like slight yellowing or a brown spot look like disasters under those lights. At first I would think something was wrong with the plants, pull them out in normal light and it's nothing at all!!
Anyways, she's not even 12 inches high and wider than she is tall and the buds aren't really that big but man there's a shit load of them and the quality seems to be superb. She is dripping with resin and so ripe-smell wise it's awesome. I'm in heaven!

No I just happened to run across Green75 (aka Doc, the Good Doctor) and I ended up doing some of his extensive defoliation along with a good bit of lst. So I kinda got a little bit of his method going on just not as extreme. I can't wait to try and do even better this time with the leds for the entire grow and hopefully minus my newbie mistakes that they had to suffer thru on this grow. They've only been under the leds for a few weeks.
