So here I am 8 1/2 weeks into flower with this Saturday making it week 9 into flower. So now I started getting curious as to what did I actually grow this time? Of course, I used pictures of Sativa and Indica leaves, and can somewhat agree on what they look like, but I have some that are may not be what they are??? My 2 lanky tall one are true Sativa, the hairs have NOT changes color as of yet and the bud make-up looks totally different as compared to my other plants, so I can agree to those 2. Now the others I have, here is where it gets tricky... I want to say 2 of them are Indica just because of the leaves as seen and nice chunky buds, the others LOOK like sativa leaves BUT have the bud make-up of the Indica??? Possibly hybrids??? I don't know. Will LST and topping have any affect??? Will this affect my time period for harvesting? As of now I am going by trichome color as I have done in the past as this is all I have to go by. What do you think??? P.S. - I have NO CLUE what strains these may be, all I know is they smell good and looking real good!!!

Today I am doing a really in depth inspection of my plants to see where they are as far as trichome colors. I guess I will know what I have when they get harvested. My "chunky monkees" are going into week 9 of flower; Indica, from my research is ready by week 8 through I assume at the latest week 10, depending on the strain. I see on one very very few now turning a little amber, telling me I am close to harvest therefore must be indicating they may be Indica. As comparison to my Sativas that take 10-14 weeks to harvest, these girls are just about ready!!! Even though the leaves may look like Sativa, I think they may be either hybrids and not true Indica. It smells so skunky in the morning! I am getting anxious now... I am using a 7x jewelers loupe to look and it is hard to keep steady to get a good look! And IF they are ready, thank goodness I did my flush last week using flawless finish, and one other note, I do not see my older fan leaves turning color as you think most people say, even after flushing they are still nice and green??? 11 grows under my belt and not once have I had this happen, so what gives??? My end results has always ended up with clean tasting, long burning (don't go out) and the ash is almost like cigarette ash, no darkness to it. Let it ride!!!
I just got done reading an article on the High Times website that an experiment was done concerning flushing. https://hightimes.com/grow/new-resea...e-unnecessary/ I kinda have to agree with what they discovered...
I have flushed to as low as 120ppm and ran into losing aroma, flavor, but not affecting the "buzz". I raised my ppms to around 400-500 and this, to me, is my target as everything grown here has come out tasty. So to flush or not to flush, that is the question as to the pros and cons on flushing.Last edited by NuggetMan; 04-24-2020, 11:30 AM.

So just to play it safe, I went ahead and did a second flush on my girls. The last watering was just ph6.4 water and molasses and my ppm's jumped up out of my desired range. Now I have them down at 500ppm to as low as 276ppm depending on the plant. And if my "hybrids" are indeed to be Sativa, I am still within my 10 week window until harvest, or maybe later??? Trichomes will tell me when they are ready... smell soooo good and sticky when handled...

Going into week 10 of flower, my questionable "hybrids" now looking more like Sativa but the buds are incredible as compared to some pictures I have referenced to on this website "growing sativa indoors" and "panama strain" which for sure, two of them look like that. These two when 1st started, looked like clones - strange so I left them alone. I have for sure 1 Indica which is looking really nice, golf ball or better size buds and packed firm and looks totally different from the rest. now the rest have been topped, defoliated, and LST'd and have chunked up really nicely, this is what threw me off because of the bud formation on these babies, not like the tall lanky ones I have which looks more "spear tip like". Trust me, I am very happy they are turning out so beautiful.
