HELP! does diatomaceous earth affect pH?

I might need to use some diatomaceous earth in one of my pots to get rid of some bugs, my question is when I water and it ends up in the coco will it affect the pH? anyone have an idea?

Not as far as I know, one bag I have claims to be 100% silica, another 85%

I'm pretty sure it is alkaline around 8 - 8.5. How that will translate to your runoff, you'll have to check. If fungus gnats are your pest control problem get a couple sticky traps to help reduse breeders. The diatomaceous earth will kill the larvae.
