    First timer germinating question

Hi there, I have all kinds of time now since I'm considered non-essential so I decided to try my hand at growing. I should start off by saying that I don't partake so I don't know a whole lot about this. My late father however was a grow master. He actually owned and operated the first legal cannabis club in our County. I just kinda wanted to see if it's in my DNA. Lol

Here's my question.... I started my seeds the day before yesterday in Jiffy pellets. My dad used to do the old paper towel method. As a kid, I can't
remember a time there wasn't a saucer with a wet paper towel and seeds in our kitchen window. My hubby is converting a closet to a grow space for me today. Should I put my seedlings in the closet now or wait till the sprout. They are currently here in my dining room in a plastic Jiffy greenhouse

So you growing some random bag seed or you know what strain they are? There's a few different ways folks germinate seed. What you stated about your Dad is the way I've done it for over 30yrs. Sure I've had failure to germinate but most the time it worked. And once the tail was exposed from seed in towel either straight into a little cup of soil then under the t-5 or CFL with a dome for humidity. After few days and seedling is 3-4" I remove dome keep it 2-3" from seedling light. It's fine to allow placement of seedlings near windows for sunlight. If they aren't above ground yet all they need is heat/humidity once they are above soil into the light they go.

    I use a t-5 & 54watt CFL for seedlings

I prefer the jiffy pellets myself. I started growing by using the paper towel method and I bet I got one plant for every 3 seeds I tried but since moving to jiffy pots I am at nearly 100% germination rate.

How long till they pop through the soil? I'm so impatient... hubby finished the closet transformation, I just have to finish my part which is to fix the reflective front covering. I have my lights, 4 60w cfl on a timer set at 18/6. Is that good?

It really depends. I have had seeds sprout in 2 days but my current grow I am using 4year old seeds and they took 10 days to break the surface.

As long as they aren't planted too deep they should start popping up around 3.5 - 4 days after going into the soil. The 18/6 lighting schedule is great. What are the temps like in the little greenhouse? Upper 70s is best in my experience and if the temps are several degrees off it affects germination times and rates.

FunkyButtLovin temp reads 81 degrees so I unscrewed 1 of the light bulbs to try and get it down
