Good point Willyd break down those huge main cola buds to quarter size JDU if need be. Yes those big fat oily ones I've quartered those prior to placing in paper bag after hanging. JDU I burp my jars for at least 2wks daily 2x's a day x 1hr. sure they feel sticky but they are dry it's the resin so just keep opening, rolling the jars don't pack them to the top until they are dry, leave air space. You got this

Thx JDU for starting this thread. Lots of good info. I have limited drying/curing experience. So far I have wet trimmed, used a dry rack, turkey bags, and bovida packs. And, I have wet trimmed, hung buds in the tent, jarred, and used bovida packs. After the last harvest I threw the dry rack in the trash. Using the jars I have found to be a hassle. Too many lids, too much time and I can't seem to have a consistent burp time. I've left the lids off for hours at a time. I am going to use turkey bags for the next harvest. I know that I'll need to watch for mold when I do that. Also, I thought the bovida packs were to maintain the RH so I have always put one in the curing container whether the turkey bags or jars when the bud goes in the container. I have my bud stored in a half gallon pickle jar in a drawer with a bovida 62. My first harvest is about a year old and still has a kick. I seem to have a diminished sense of taste cause I can't really tell a difference in how the different strains I've grown taste. But it's fun trying. It also seems to me that as part of the drying/curing discussion long-term storage needs to be thrown in as well.

I have had a fall harvest go until nearly planting season following year when jarred. I need to protect our own amount more so our house does not run as short as we've been. Family and friends who don't grow kinda have there hands out to frequently, I just need to say no tell them going to have to wait 3 more months for any LOL but it's hard to say no..

golfnrl i too have burped jars for days checked frequently but still i'm hooked on mason jars. Once my hubby thought he'd be helpful and seal a meal vacumed uncured bud ( i forgave him after he was scolded ) he crushed the shit out of it and caused it to mold in places. I still only use jars,

I use jars almost exclusively. I have a bunch of Grove bags and they work well for storing but the initial cure still requires burping and the zipper on the bags always fails after a few uses. If you've dried your buds properly before going into the jars, they only need to be burped for a few minutes at a time. When I have lots of jars to do, I just kinda take my time opening them and lining them up, by the time I'm done opening, I slowly put lids back on and then put them all away. I generally burp twice a day for 5-7 days, once a day for another week or so and then about once every week or two from then on.
