      Let me elaborate . When I get ready to harvest. 1) The last 2 weeks I give them only water. 2) I Let them get dry 3) 36 hours dark before harvest.Cut individual colas. (I don't want to wait for the whole stem to dry) 4) Trim all the leaves. (save them for Hash) 5) Hang upside down (I don't know why,,just easier to hang I guess)

      I did an extended dark period before harvest. I don't know if it made a difference or not.

    I have heard it been told that humidity plays a big part in the drying process. LOL

    But seriously, if you have low humidity, harvest day after a watering and hang entire plant. (if entire plant is ready)
    If you have high humidity, then allow soil to dry a day or two before harvest and hang individual branches or colas.

    Or any method between these two suggestions that you think are right for your situation.

      Hi, can't comment on the dark period issue (haven't tried that myself), but did want to mention that if buds are really dense and you're hanging whole stems for a slow dry, there's a possibility the inner section may get bud rot especially if RH is too high. Some growers will cut up into consistent size pieces to avoid this. Isn't getting to the drying/curing stage a great time?! 🙌

          Im still apprx. 10 weeks left in blooming... I know the sugar leaves are good for cannibutter etc... but what about main stalk and fan leaves..? Im in my first grow and anticipating a low yeild hedging dissapointment and want to make the most efficient use of the plant.

            Welcome to the forum jdakota.
            I dry, cure, grind up, and extract the resins with dry ice from the stems and fan leaf trim (use the 23 micron screen for the purest results). You can smoke it as is or bake it in the oven to make a tea. It is not as concentrated as the bud is, but it is "Better than a sharp stick in the eye!", as my Dad use to say. (LOL)
            Good luck with your grow.

            Hi dakota, welcome to the forum!!

            I'm on my second grow now (DWC), and harvested 2.5 oz on my first grow of two plants--one big and one runt. I cut all the buds off main stem and put in a cannabis dryer. It took about 5 days for the largest buds.

            Small yield on my first grow, but very good quality because I learned what to do for a great dry and cure on GWE website. On GWE is also a great tutorial with video on making dry ice hash with your trim:http://www.growweedeasy.com/dry-ice-hash

            As for the fan leaves, I hear that goats like them a lot!! (Don't know what else to tell you...) ;-}

          I don't have the xp to recommend one method or another. I have done the same method twice and enjoyed my weed. 10 to 14 days prior to anticipated harvest day i cease feeding, flush and offer only water from that point on. I let them dry up a bit befote chopping. I chop in the plants morning right as the tent temp hits 71 or 72 then hang the plants. I spend one to two weeks getting them cleaned and jared.
