    Need Help with PESTS!

    Hello everyone,

First time growing mj, have a fair amount of experience with other plants. I have an indoor set up, all plants including non mj plants started from seeds. LED, COBB and Fluorescent lighting, good air circulation, temp runs slightly high during day ~82F. I only use FoxFarm soil (ocean or happy frog). I recently noticed a few of these colonies (see pic- 40X magnification) on my cilantro plants which are in very close proximity to mj plants. The bugs don’t seem to be colonizing the mj but i noticed them on the basil too. I moved all non essential plants outside and gently sprayed all MJ plants closest to cilantro with essential oil mix. I do not see any pests/eggs on the mj but am really concerned they may have colonized and I cant find them. All mj plants are doing great with no signs of disease or stunting.

So are these Aphids? Should I assume they have colonized the surrounding plants even though I cannot see evidence of them? And lastly, what is the most likely way these pests found their way into my indoor garden? Soil? From my outdoor garden on my hands/tools? Adult flew in and colonized from outside?

Any tips would be recommended. I read up on Aphids but wanted to make sure I even identified the bug correctly!

    Thanks

Looks like an aphid. Seems they were happy enough on the basil and cilantro though. You can continue spraying until you're confident they're clean.

Best thing I can tell you to get rid of aphids is lady bugs! Do you see ants? Ants farm them like a cowboy does cattle. They will carry them from plant to plant so they spread faster and make them more sticky sweet crap to eat.

Aphids. Use Safer’s insecticidal soap as directed on label. Earlier is better. Lady bugs take too long.
