    Spider mites!

I had my Wedding Cake infected with spider mites. It wasn't a serious infestation but I've seen pics of how bad it can get. Most places I browsed on the web suggested pesticide. Organic versions are available but I didn't want to be smoking even an organic pesticide residue!

Instead, I hauled the plant into the garage (indoor grow) and used a pressurized (pump up) garden sprayer filled with luke warm water and sprayed from the underside upwards because the fuckers lay eggs on the underside of the fan leaves. I then had to tie up the pland as it was now water logged and needed some support.

I then spread a layer of diamotaceous earth around the base of the pot and a layer on top of the soil. It all worked great and i was able to rid the plant of these pests.

    Anyone else try this?
I hope there is an afterlife...there are a lot of friends and family I'd like to see again, one day.

My last battle with them I sprayed ISO 91% 1:1 with water every 3 days, I stopped when I thought they were dead and gone. When they came back I sprayed with 91% ISO, the plant the soil the pot the floor. Then I chopped the plant and baked it for an hour at 250*F,. I then baked the top 6 inches of soil at 250*F for 2 hours and moved the pot soil and all outside in the cold. The plant went to compost,,,but I think they are dead!

I moved, did not see them again for a least a year They are like bamboo, the only way to get rid of bamboo is to move. All joking aside, I have seen several folks on this site get rid of them. Number one is keep them out, they are coming in some how, in my case the wife moved all of her plants into my shop for a freeze...… Took years to completely get rid of those bugs.

I tried everything organic and eventually non-organic....I spray neem oil weekly now in veg as a preventative but when I had them the following did it...Mighty Wash...battled with them for 5 months but mighty wash did what nought else could...anyway, good luck...believe it also kills the eggs as well

Bottom line is they're there because they were brought in. Treat em and all but they can be kept out. Neem works. I've had success with rosemary extract also. Have some Mighty Wash but haven't used it yet.
