    Smart pot use

I receved 4,5gal. Smart pots for Xmas and wish to use them but know not how(never used before) .Reading the blog I can't find info on what to use to catch run off in?
i always run off at 20% in soil. And do I need to put drainage media in bottom of pot? Any help would make this old dirt farmer have a merry Xmas thanks.peace

I think ideally a sink would be nice but you need to PH that run off I'm going to use a big starter flat box when I water. In the fabric we can move them around for training and watering not stuck in one place (DWC Tub)

Tika uses smart pots. I believe she takes each one out of tent and over to her sink to water. I may be wrong about that, but I think I've seen pictures of her plants sitting in or near sink after watering. Hopefully she'll come along and give you some insight.

Yes..I take each plant out, put it into a larger saucer, feed to drain /wate, dump the waste til done and return to saucer ( which is smaller so not to take up tent space.
then return to tent with no puddle. Whatever seeps out after that gets sucked back in. So far no wet on the floor of tent since 2014

Smartpots are all that I use. Really believe they can help roots breathe, and never had a problem with drainage since they leak out nicely on their own. As you've heard there are multiple ways to deal with runoff. Good luck Potted! 🌿

I put an upside down crate over a tray and water in my tent. Green, why the hate on dirt?

              I don't like field dirt...only use it on gorilla grows...or field corn...and I'm no farmer...haha

Maybe I'm being thick but in this context you mean dirt not soil?

              Correct....
I still stay away from soil tho...to unpredictable and bugs like rich soil...

Coco loco for me all the way....we grow weed....I think we should be in control of every aspect of it...I cannot control what I don't know...soil...who the hell really knows what's in there.
