    End of flower

So the finish line is in site with my first grow. I plan to harvest next week, and am wondering if it’s normal to see bud growth come to a slow growth in the last two weeks.

I went out of town for 5 days and was pumped to get back and see how they would have fattened up. To my surprise, they did not grow as much as I would have expected- based on the previous daily growth. One thing I should mention, I defoliated quite a bit bc I thought it may help focus growth on the buds in the last 14 days. Did this maybe hurt instead of help?

Tried to get an enlarged peek at your buds.... the pistils are looking bright white. It would make me think you are still several weeks from maturation of these trichomes. How long have they been in flower?

This pic was about 5 days ago. I’d say I’m about 30-40% white pistols. I flipped to flower on 11/12. Maybe push them out to 9 weeks?

Oh, nice difference. Likely you could be harvesting... trichomes look fully filled out, milky, amber?

They’re liking pretty milky. No amber yet which is what I’m waiting for before harvest. Call me crazy, but looking for more of the CBD and lower THC.

Had plants with a few ambers I thought would be ready in a few more days and it took over 3 more weeks to be at 25-30% covered. Some of my sativa never ambered.

Farmall me too, but I've also had some that once they started showing a little amber, in a week's time, they were 40percent amber.
I've also had several that never showed amber, like you.
      They all different.

Just took a little closer look today and saw some amber in there. What percentage do you look for?

I watch trichromes with a 60x microscope and other magnifiers until I'm cross eyed. I've grown for six years. After dozens of harvests I still have never seen 40 % amber. I take the plant down in stages and sometimes it takes weeks. Fruit on a tree doesn't all ripen at once. Drying and curing will make it better and better. I can tell when it reaches the sweet spot when I'm smoking less of it per day.
      Focus and relativity.

Eliot Pryor Well put. I did a similar form of harvest, hunting around the plant for the best buds amber concentrations and I have waited almost 3 weeks until a plant has gotten fully cut down. I start when usually the buds in the greatest light exposure are maturing well. Sometimes it’s lower buds but that USB microscope easily zeros in quickly so I can pick and choose. I start around 20% but I have seen higher in some buds but that is a big change in the chemistry in the entire plant. I question whether or not the plant is losing potency. I have labeled that additionally with “sleep aid” on the tag

Have you ever looked thru a magnifier with and without the light on the devise turned on ? That is why I keep scratching my head. With the light on they look clear and cloudy and a few amber, all vibrantly colored. Turn the light off and they look all cloudy and pink and dull colors. Have a great grow brother !!

Funny...I was just looking with my loupe and noticed some have a lot more amber than others. You guys answered my question. Except, what to do if the main cola has most of the amber? Any harm in chopping it?

Nope you can take it and leave the rest to ripen. I've done it many times...sequential harvest.

Any thoughts on using the grow tent as a “drying room”? It seems like it’d be the perfect environment.

Well, I just chopped the main cola on one. It had about 10% amber triches. It only had two feedings without any nutes so I hope it doesn’t taste too nasty.

It will be pretty harsh till about 2 weeks after its dry. Thats personal experience. Then if any is still left after 30 days it gets way better.

Went for a full 3 month cure and it did mellow out the cough effect significantly. Seems like a long time to wait but I have 6 month and 10 month aged and like wine, cheese and 007’s brandy...it’s smooth
