    Auto flower

Hi. When a store says 63 days to flower with regards to auto flower seeds, does this mean 63 days until it will go from veg to flower or does it mean 63 days until the plant is finished and ready to cut down.

Ya know this topic has always been subjective/debated. My own opinion is once the plant shows budlet not just stamens from calyxes but tiny center light green budlet then I start the flower count. If breeder says 63days of flower period I mark that day as one. And give or take a week. But that's the way I read it.

I think I've been getting muddled up. So for example, if it says 64 days flowering time that 64 days starts from the time they leave their vegetation stage, not from the day of germination?

And how long is their veg period before they begin to flower? Or does this vary on how they are fed/lit?

I'm no expert on autos. I've grown them 2x now and will grow them after this round of photos are done. It varies when they bloom could be by wk3 during seedling/veg stage it's so short a time. They take very short time under CFL place right into bloom light at once. I count from moment I see very tiny center bud forming, 65days from that point. I'm not that good with them yet to go from seed to harvest in 65days as breeder states. I'm going to punt this one to more experienced auto folks. I'm still trialing these plants.

Hello StokeBloke My autos started to bud at 3 weeks and it continued to grow and bud. The breeder said 8 weeks of flower. Which in my opinion is there estimation to harvest. I am currently at 10 weeks of flower and i check the trichs every few days. I believe the breeders exaggerate the time for a quicker harvest.

Veg period on an auto should be no more than 30 days - then pistils should appear - plant will then make her stretch and pistils will blossom. But it does vary.

Start counting after them pistils appear. In my opinion.

Thanks. I only need around an oz a month. I know it can vary on variety, and from what you're saying it takes around 3-4 months to end product, so are targets of 2oz a plant easily achievable or would I need to grow more than 2 plants at a time to reach my Oz a month target.

If you get one that shows pistils early, like say 12-15days, you'll be lucky to get an one oz, they stay small.
But 2-4ozs, a plant, is about average, imo, I'm no expert at all, the most I ever got from an auto was a couple of grams short of 8ozs, dry. A Northern Lights auto from Nirvana.
Some people get way more than that, on here, but I aint, ,I'm happy to get 2-4 ozs, from one.
What I'd advise, is to get seeds from a good
place, then ever now and again, your still gonna get one that don't want to grow good and healthy.

I think what DAAS said is right on. Like I said only grown them couple times and had 2 different strains each time. Anything that stresses them or has crappy genetics throws them into flower. If I get 2oz off each of these i'm sprouting now and I got 4 going i'd be happy. But I've only ever gotten 1oz at most. So i'm really careful with these 4 going to really pamper them for this my only2nd indoor run of them. Last one was outdoor doesn't count!

Cheers mate. So how long does it take from seed to finish with a crop of 1oz? From what you said previous I'm guessing 3 months - 4 weeks in veg then 60+ days for flower

That's not how it goes with autos at times i'm going from seedlings 2wks cfl then directly in bloom light spectrum hoping no one flowers prior to transfer. Yes mine take between 70-85days seed to finish that's my plan, had a outdoor go for 100+day auto last summer. I'm a brown thumb with autos currently

I've grown 3 strains of auto's. They all took at least 4 months. They all produced way more than an oz. It depends on how big you can let them get. Blue Mammoth by Barneys Farms is an auto I've grown twice. I highly recommend it for yield and smokability .

Big Bang auto gave me 12oz jarred and another 4oz of larf and awesome sugar leaves from just 3 plants. They took 19 weeks from seed. As a first time grower, I may have caused the long grow due to ignorance, but the results have been amazing and the smoke is very good.

Ask me about yield in 30 days or so. I expect from previous grows that I will avg about 2-3 oz per plant. As for time some breeders state the approximate time from start to harvest such as Sweet Seeds. " Indoor/Outdoor Harvest: 8 weeks from germination" for Cream Caramel Auto, Mephisto Genetics states the same, from sprout to finish time.

StokeBloke My circumstances were quite similar to yours until the law changed last January for me. Before that I grew in 2 small tool cabinets. I grew feminized photo-periods only. Veged under a 2 foot 4 tube t5 fluorescent then put them under 2 135 watt ufo's. I ran hydroponics for the speed. I could do 2 plants at once in either cabinet. If you clone your plants you get faster turn around. An oz per month is about what I use and I can tell you that's tough to do in a small stealthy space. You can do it but you have to keep them growing continuously. Good growing to you sir !!

I have had autos finish in 70 days from sprout, some took 130+ days (from sprout). The seed banks give different descriptions, some say from sprout, from seed, others from start of flower (read carefully), and ad 2 or 3 weeks ifn you like Amber,,,

So I'm guessing that the plants have a genetic time code for flowering and not when they have enough stored energy.
