    Light efficiency

Just because a 1000W MH light uses 1000W doesn't mean it's giving out 1000w of light. There is a tremendous amount of heat generated. Aren't LED's much more efficient than MH or HPS lights? If you have a HPS or MH thats drawing 200W from the wall and a LED thats drawing 200W from the wall the LED will be throwing more light. No?

What you're referring to is called efficacy. Plants don't care about watts of power used-they eat photons of light energy. So, what you really need to measure is the amount of light showered over the plant.
The advantage of using 'current' tech diodes is that they are much more efficient at converting watts of electricity into photons of light. Every watt of power you 'inject' into your grow space is used to either generate light or heat. They are both forms of energy, but plants convert those photons into biomass while the rest is waste heat. Most economy led fixtures like those sold on Amazon use diodes that are NOT as efficient as an equivalent wattage HPS
Unless you're willing to use current tech diodes like those used in QB's, most HID fixtures will produce more photons of light for each watt pulled from the wall.
