    Seed Shell Stuck

Hello to everyone at GWE! This is my second grow but my first indoor grow. I have a 2 x 4 x 5 grow tent, with a 23w
6000k cfl to start my seedlings for a week or two. Then i will be switching to 450 LED (actual watts 200 ish). I have a carbon scrubber with a 195 cfm inside with ducting going outside the tent, a 6" clip on fan and 3 seedlings. The seedling is a White Widow auto from i49. I placed it in distilled water for 18 hrs then paper towel for another 36. Then the tap root was about 1/2" long (it took a day longer then the other White Widow to get a tap root). It sprouted Oct 22 growing in 70% coco and 30% perlite. The temp ranges from 22 C to 26 C with an RH of 40% TO 46%. Now my question is should try to crack that seed without damaging the leaves or let it be?

This has happened to me lots of times. I learned to "drip a drop" of water just a droplet on seed wait abit sometimes it kicks it off itself. It will loosen it up so leaf can spread it to drop off.

I would VERY gently with a pair of tweezers tug on the shell. If it is does not come off with minimal effort, then i would leave it be. It can get stuck and kill the plant, but if you pull it off when it is still stuck to the cotyledon you can also kill the plant by ripping the leaves off. Typically it will get it off its self but i have on occasion had to help them out. The key is to be very gentle and never force it.

I bet it comes off, by itself, if left alone, mine do.
If not spray a little water, on it,
Cfls for a week or two
      315lec for everything else
Dug up Ms.topsoil, with perlite added
      36x36x63 inch tent.
6inch - exaust - intake fans an scrubber

I had one like that that wouldn’t come off. Eventually had to pry it off carefully. It wasn’t going anywhere, and took some serious care and time to remove safely. Glad I did, as one of the cotyledons had died under the seed helmet.

That helmet head problem, normally comes from not planting the seed deep
enough ,for the soil to remove the
            husk.shell.

Thanks SoOrbudgal by putting drops of water on the helmet it softened it and the leaves are now in charge!

I've been testing a lot of diff ways to germ. For me the best way is soil, solo cup, spray bottle. Also I grab a big gulp from 7eleven. Poke some holes on the bottom, and cover the solo cup until the cotelydons open. I'm a noob at the grow game but I can atleast give you this advice. It's about humidity.
