HELP! TMV? Help diagnose please.

I’ve got a little seedling that’s got some odd markings that have me worried.



TMV? Light burn (doubt it)? Nute burn from the Coco Loco? Lockout from the tap water? Normal weirdness for seedlings? Initially I thought maybe just weird genetics, but here’s the kicker: now the one next to it (different strain, same breeder) is starting to show it on her new growth. Fuck.
So I need you Dr. House types to please help me figure out what’s happening to my girl.

Here are the details:
- Main affected plant (since first leaves): Crystal Meth auto by FastBuds
- Plant beginning to be affected: Six Shooter by FastBuds
- Growing under 2x 24” T5HO’s at about 2”-6” distance.
- Growing in Coco Loco (with Kind Soil at the bottom of the pot... they won’t have reached it yet)
- 3gal fabric pots
- Initially straight tap water (pH 7.6+) and then recently a liter of pH’ed tap water

Not to dismiss your concerns prematurely but, they seem ok to me.... I have had some seedlings present a bit of this coloration but they come around fine. What is your pH range when watering and what are you using to lower that 7.6?

whenever I had had some concerns with watering I resort to spring water for a day or two. Whether or not it made a difference, I can’t say but the plants always do well in super soil and the 315LEC

This is my first time with seedlings, so I don’t really have a basis of comparison. If this looks normal, that’s a huge relief. I use citric acid crystals to bring the ph down.

I think she looks pretty good s62, just some growing pains maybe. I agree with Farmall...should try and get pH down to 6-6.5 for soil. Although come to think of it..i started all my seeds with tap water in the 7 range and didnt start checking or adjusting untill 4 weeks into veg. sooo what do i know..lol I do check pH everytime now and have been targeting 6.5 for growth into bud. plants are doing very well. homegrown
oh ya, i did have a TMV scare early on in veg with my AK's...sure did look like examples i had seen. i just let her grow and never saw anymore signs of it. i see if i can find pics.

You’re right, that one leaf does look like TMV, crazy. I just checked on her again, and she’s really not looking good. The texture of the leaves is starting to look wrong, they seem weird papery and unhealthy

S62, I did read somewhere that the continued use of citric acid crystals can cause a salt buildup after extended use and we’re not flushing supersoil... that’s why I used intermittent spring water on occasion. No ideas if it was an issue or not but the source of the information was more than credible so I went with it. I’ve also squeezed a bit of lemon juice into a 4 gallon pail of 8.1ph tap water until the ph dropped to 6.7 and it does fairly quickly....and also, on separate occasion, added a tablespoon of un sulfured molasses per gallon every so often and that too lowed ph on it’s own. It has worked or me but it’s not my own thinking, only qualified reading. So for what it’s worth, just passing along a few thoughts

As for the paper thin leaves, I had that on all of the last set of seedlings but with a few days of extra growth, they were all doing well . I water 500ml for the first 10 days or so and in the 5 gal fabric pots....it seems to be enough but at 12” tall one morning, they were wilted from not enough water....that was a first ever....so all got water and did fine

I might add.... As an older less bendable person, when it comers to being hunched over and trying to carefully water around the roots of a plant, I eventually start o drift over and splash some water on the leaves. and... as much as I've read that the light can magnify that water droplet and cause a heat burn … I had FINALLY seen that and had a few burnt spots on the leaves. So while I have a ton of stuff to water easily that I don't take the time to set it up, this has placed a new demand on these old bones. May be an elevated 2' wide space would be better.

Here's something else... It is great to be aware of some of the crazy pests and exotic viruses that can plague a garden but for the most part... if you read what it takes to acquire some of these... it is more of a fluke than a common issue. my thoughts... don't panic yet. Of course being too cavalier we could wake up to annihilation beyond recognition

Our house is in the same shape Farmall. I've got the same mottled branch on one plant it's been there for months now never left never transferred to another plant. I'm feeling Uncle Arteritis raising his ugly head earlier this season rain is here.
