    Canadian med grower question

    Question for my fellow canucks:
As a licensed personal cultivator for med cannabis, can I write-off the costs of the grow equipment as a medical expense at tax time? What about the extra costs in my utility bills?

    Cheers

There are 3 things you must check everyday when growing in hydro:
    1) Water level (How much h2o is she drinking in 24hrs)
    2) pH level (change over 24hrs)
    3) ppm/EC level (How much food is she eating in 24hrs)

I'm in the US here you could not do that. Ask a local tax advisor
You may win the race, but you pass all the best things in life on the way.

Turbo Tax is a surprisingly good source of tax info....they say no to the expense claim.
"If you have a medical marijuana prescription, the CRA allows you to claim money spent on marijuana as a medical expense. To qualify, you must have a receipt, and the purchase must be made from a legal and licensed facility.
You may also claim the cost of marijuana seeds but may not claim any costs related to growing including lights, containers, fertilizers and other items."

HappyDaze Thanks. I never thought of checking their site. I spoke to an accountant and he had no idea about the expenses for cultivating.
