I'm growing my 2nd plant and I'm 5 weeks in but from the first set leaves it's had a strange (lighter green) discoloration (like maybe thrips, or leaf miner eating tracks?) on parts of the leaves and they are coming in twisted/warped. Any advise is appreciated

I'd try this first, and if not effective you can bring in the big guns. https://homeguides.sfgate.com/dawn-d...ent-82536.html

In one lower leaf I see leaf miners. Since leaf miners are non-specific insect larvae, you probably have something else. I can't speak for the curling and discolored leaves unless those are the insect ones. Get yourself a magnifying glass.
Also, leaf miners are like cockroaches: There is never just one. Be prepared for more unless you treat. Listen to these other good folks for that. I sprinkled a pack of wild flowers in a big pot on my patio. The thing was lousy with aphids and leaf miners. Once the marigolds popped up all the bugs went away.C'mon, mule!

"Once the marigolds popped up all the bugs went away." My wife has used marigolds. Only problem is her marigolds die, and the bugs come back. I was curious as to why the insects are repelled, and discovered it is just the scent of the marigolds. I also found out there are several plants that repel some of the most unwanted insects. https://www.mnn.com/your-home/organi...wanted-insects
