    Grow 2 - Germinating

    Hello Folks,

I thought I'd let you in on the beginning of grow 2. I'm really excited about it. Seeds are germinating about 30 hours, they appear to be popping,

Growing: 2x Skylar White; 2x Caramel; 1x Sour Crack and have 3x White Widow on the way, hopefully in a week or so.

Using 4x 300w LED lights and DWC hydroponic system. There are 4 growing totes each with 5 gallons of water in a ten gallon tote. Each tote will grow two plants placed as far diagonally from each other as possible. The main tote is a 30 gallon tote holding 20 gallons of water. It's job is to supply oxygenated, nutrient rich water.

Using a home made 'house' in a section of a room we don't use. It was intended to be a gym (never got furnished) and has a concrete floor. I'm using about 24 SF to actually grow in (3'D x 8'W). The back drop is 2 sheets of plywood I painted white and leaned against the wall. Other three sides will be hung with reflective materials.

Using the same nutrients as 1st grow, General Hydroponics FloraTrio (FloraMicro, Grow and Bloom), supplementing with CalMag.

The water supply here (today) is around 55 deg, 35ppm and 7.5pH. Takes overnight for the water to go from 55 deg to 65 deg.

Today I intend to correct the pH only in the main tote in order to see how long it takes to 'normalize' across the other 4 totes. Going to research managing nutrients according to measured ppm.

Not sure what I have missed, I'm sure I'll hear about it .

Thank you Tika. I have a lot of effort in this, much more than is necessary. I just have to do certain things certain ways and this is what I get. Personally I get satisfaction in the details. Other satisfaction later.

The grow is about three days in and all 5 of my 5 seeds have sprouted, only 2 have unfolded. Adding a couple photos of seedling numero uno.

Love attention to detail. I only did hydro (out doors) for lettuces...which put me into growing cannabis indoors and went coco.
        congrats on your seedlings..

what photo tool are u using? Very clear.

Yeah the attention to detail takes extra time but I get to relax all that much better when I do relax. This is (like the title says ...) only my second grow, first was similar to this one but just one tote and two plants. If the forum were for OCD'ers, then I'd have found my home. I'm not over the top, but it's easy to spot the tendencies in me and what I do. The universe is chaos and I'm trying to bring order. Seems like an uphill battle maybe.

For these photos I used my older Canon Rebel DSLR. It still does a very acceptable job so I keep it on the payroll. Other times I'll use my iPhone and still other times I have a USB microscope I try to use. The microscope is a real challenge for me, getting it positioned correctly can be a nightmare.

            Hi Buz

My new grow (hydro) has not done one thing I thought would happen. My new thought is stay open to anything happening.

I love the set up and subscribed. Are you going to train? Top anything?

Yes I plan to do dome training. I haven't settled yet on which I want to use. For my first grow I dabbled with FIMing, Defoliating and LST. It worked out ok in the end, I had 4.5 oz for two plants my first grow. I was pleased. I'm thinking of SOG, Manifolding and Defoliating - seems a few training techniques overlap each other and you employ two for one - whatever works, right?

Great I love the Nebula manifold to me the sog seems like a ton of work but I do like the out come. I've been at 9 oz a plant using Nebulas manifold.

Certainly Karlee. I intend to document most of the grow here. Hey, the first comment about the 600w light(?), I wasn't sure how to understand that sentence. Pardon me because I can be a little dense sometimes. Looks like a nice set up you have.

Welcome Buz. I've never grow using a DWC system. Soil for me. Your setup looks great and I can't wait to follow along with your progress.

I see, yeah, was'[t sure how the 600 was figuring in there sentence. I'm sure it's me being dense - thanks for the clarity.

That was a good read alright. I know my lights leave something to be desired, at least according to some folks, but until I can form my own opinion based on my own experience - well, I'm gonna be stuck on these LEDs. Of course, if I can't get them to produce acceptably, they'll be collecting dust in a heart beat.

From what ive seen the led's are great for growing pot and cheaper to run it's the price, the one I want is 500 dollars lot's for me the 600 watt was 300 dollars with perks.

I just wanted to let you know get the grow all running right and the harvest will be big. I had 18 oz in a 4x4 tent with 600 watt so i know you can do better !

We each find our own way to enjoy growing, eh? I'm surprised I let 5 months slip away before getting my next grow going. This new set up is part of why it took 5 months to get going again, directly the set up probably cost me 1 of the 5 months. A lot of head scratching for this ol' guy.
