    Nutrients?????????

So I'm REALLY confused. I am using the General Hydroponics 3 part system shown on this website. However, I looked up the ratios on the GH website and compared them to the growweedeasy recommendations and found that there is a wide difference between the two. General Hydroponics recommendations are 10 times what GWE recommends. Why is there such a difference between the two?

Not sure why such difference, but gwe feed chart is working for my babies.

I know quite a few growers on this website use their nutrients at 1/2 strength what is recommended on the bottles. And it does depend on your growing medium. Using a good soil with lots of nutrients, means using less supplements.

I found that odd also at first (huge difference in recommendations), however following the GWE schedule (and alternating nutes with plain water) worked beautifully for my crops.

Sooo....i tried using full strength on my second grow as an experiment. Nuked my plant and had to start over. Not sure the science behind it but can confirm that full strength is too high. I use the same nutes by the way. I roughly use the same schedule as on GWE (not precisely but close enough) and have had great success! Very nice (in Borat voice).

I use the GH trio also to GWE's specs, no problem. Not meant derogatorily but like all firms they are in the business to sell product. That is why I try very hard to follow the advice of the people here. They've been there done that.
It's not how crazy I am, but how much I enjoy it that makes me dangerous.

Alright. Way to go folks. This is exactly why I joined this community. You guys/gals rock. If it makes any difference, I'm doing hydroponic. Added nutrients at the General Hydroponics recommended early growth levels on Saturday. So far so good. But I'm definitely going to throttle it back when I change out my water in a week or two. I've also been struggling with very low, 10%, humidity levels. Had to break out the humidifier. So far got the humidity up to 45%. Shooting for about 55%. The pic below is about 10 days ago.

Looks good, a little bit of leaf discoloration, but it could just be the picture, or the too strong nutes. I'm sure she'll do great.

If I was selling nutrients I would want you to use as much as possible. My recommended schedule would have all nutrients at luxury levels. That is their business.
                          completed 7 grows
what I have learned so far:
                          environment maters more than nutrients
at least a dab of nutrients in every watering
effective flushing before harvest is critical to quality

The difference is.... they sell the stuff! you buy! Nutrients are EXPENCIVE are they worth the price? Mine cost over $50.00 and I only get 3 quarts for that price.

Cheaper and more control to mix your own salts, started with gh folling GWE feed chart with great results, switched over to j.r. Peters hydro, cal- nitrate, Epsom salt and have not looked back. For what I spent on gh trio/gal bottles I got 25# bags of each and am on my second year of continuous growing both inside and out
