    New setup question

As I'm finishing up my first grow, I getting my new rooms ready for the next grow. (Currently have two clones taken during flower that rooted and are growing as a bit of an experiment in monster cropping). My new rooms are 4' x 6'9" for veg And 6 x 6'9" for flower, 7' ceiling for both. I will be doing 5 gallon buckets rdwc. My current leds will be used for veg, i built new led fixtures using 4 ft Samsung lm561 strips, 2 fixtures 4x6 footprint combined pulling 1100 Watts from the wall, dimmable.

My question is, aside from the first grow that'll just be the two clones, how many plants should i grow? I'm allowed 12 so my original plan was for 6 per room at a time. But after some thought I'm wondering if just 4 wouldn't be a better idea. I'm afraid if i veg a plant, take clones, put plants into flower, the clones will have vegged too long and gotten too big by the time the flowering plants are done. I know my first grow i vegged about 5 weeks and the 4 plants filled my 4x4 tent too much by the time the flowering stretch was done. I don't know if 6 plants will do the same in a 6x6 space as well. Are my concerns legit or am i thinking too much into it?

Here's how I look at it:

    4 plants in a 4x4 (16 sq ft) = 4 sq ft per plant.

6 plants in a 6x6 (36 sq ft) space = 6 sq ft per plant.

I'm on my first grow in a 3.5x3.5 (12.25 sq ft) space and I found 4 plants was not enough space = 3 sq ft per plant

I have two plants in the same space now and it is great = 6 sq ft

So the above logic leads me to believe 6 in a 6x6 will be great. Having said that, a lot of it will depend on genetics/size of plant.

    Hope this helps!

i think you are right, the clones will outgrow the flowering plants and youll run out of space doing 4 or 6 plants at the same time, you are going to have to try and experiment to get it right but a little planning will help a lot. for example if you veg three plants, take clones and flower, those clones will be ready to flower in 2-3 weeks plus veg time, at that moment you take more clones and again you have 2-3 weeks plus veg time until you need the space to flower. that should be enough for the first three to finish. in 6 months youll know exactly how long to veg, how much training to do, watering and other logistical aspects of perpetual growing. the strain you grow can make a big difference in how hard it will be to control space so take that into consideration. some plants get really big and stretch a lot so they need less veg, others are squat and need longer veg and much more training, you gotta figure it out making mistakes good luck my friend.

Thanks guys, i had another friend who said if i thought they were vegging to long to take my clones and switch the veg room to 12/12 until my flowering room if clear. Root the clones outside my room which is fine with me. That might be the route i go with 6 plants. I can keep the tent for just clones and rotate the veg room between veg and early flower if it comes down to it. Probably grow out one with a full veg to Guage whether I'll need to do that or not.
