Tips For Plant Training to Prevent Breakage - Mist/Wet Stems Before Bending

It has been helpful in my experience to mist stems with clear Ph balanced water or light foliar spray in areas you want to bend, especially if the stems or branches are woodier and harder to bend.
In basket making wood or other materials are soaked in water to make them more pliable and easy to shape. The same principle works here with plant training.

That's interesting to know, but I still wouldn't mess with the really stiff, older stems. Do you have some pictures?

Wood steaming is a old world carpentry technique that is used in the making of things like canoes, radial support beams, wagon wheels, even things like skateboards, Once build a spiral staircase handrail from 1/8" strip of oak. Fun stuff.

Ive found if growing in coco or soil that training a day after water is incomprehensibly easier than before or same day, up to three days when the medium is still very wet or holding a lot of moisture it seemed the plants too were water softened.
