First time grower questions: DWC 315 CMH or 238W LED QB

    Hi GWE Community,

First off, really excited to join this group! Been lurking on the site and forums since I was approved to grow and really impressed by everyone's knowledge and willingness to help others.

Anyways, I'm almost at the point where I've confirmed my first setup and really looking forward to getting started. I would really appreciate if someone could take an opportunity to review and identify any gaps and/or opportunities for improvement.

    Overall plan
DWC setup with feminized Cookie Kush in a 3x3x6 flowering tent under a 315W CMH.

    Genetics
4 Cookies Kush (feminized) by Barney’s Farm

    Tent
    Mars Hydro 3'3" x 3'3" x 5'11" Mylar Hydroponic Grow Tent

    Lighting
VIVOSUN 315W CMH grow light system

    Ventilation
    · 6” oscillating fan
    · Honeywell HT900C Turbo Force 7” fan
    · VIVOSUN 6-inch carbon filter
    · AC Infinity Cloudline S6 exhaust fan

    Nutrients
    GENERAL HYDROPONICS FLORABLOOM 3.79L ($45)
    GENERAL HYDROPONICS FLORAGRO 3.79L ($45)
    GENERAL HYDROPONICS FLORAMICRO ($50)
GENERAL HYDROPONICS CALIMAGIC 3.79L NUTRIENT ($55)

    Deep Water Culture Setup
    Hydrofarm Net Cup, 3-Inch, 12-Pack ($7)
VIVOSUN Air Pump 950 GPH 32W 60L/min 6 Outlet Commercial Air Pump
Rain Bird T22-50S Drip Irrigation 1/4" Blank Distribution Tubing, 50' Roll, Black
Pawfly 4-Inch Air Stone Disc Bubble Diffuser with Suction Cups (4)
LiaFlor (Hydroton) Clay Pebbles (10 Litres Bags)
    United Solutions 14 gallon x2
Pawfly 1.6" Air Stone Bubble (4)
Zacro Pack of 2 LCD Digital Aquarium Thermometer

    Miscellaneous
    · Digital PH Meter PH Tester Kit TDS Pen PPM Pen Water Quality Testing Pen Tests 0.01PH ($16)
    · AcuRite 01083M Pro Accuracy Temperature and Humidity Monitor (2)
    · 6” ducting and clips
    - plant ties
    - air pump intake hose to outdoors
    - PPM meter
    - trimming scissors
    - disposable gloves
    - rapid rooters

    Specific Questions
    1. Will the exhaust fan and other fans be enough to keep the 3x3 cool if I go with the CMH?
    2. Will this setup generate enough heat that I will need an air conditioner? Or are there other ways I can more effectively manage temperature?
    3. At one point I was considering auto flower genetics but was ultimately persuaded to go with a feminized seed. What do you think is best for a first time grower with above setup?

Thank you for taking an opportunity to read my post. Appreciate any insights you can share.

Nice set-up, my tent is the same size as yours, and the hottest it gets is 77-78 with my 315cmh, with a 460cf exaust fan.
Good Luck with everything, and welcome to GWE, plenty of good help on here, if you need any.

Thanks for confirming. My fan is a little less powerful (351 CFM). Should be more than enough for the space (according to the formula available here) but now I'm wondering if I should get a slightly bigger fan like you to make sure it stays cool. Do you think I would be ok with a 351 CFM or do I need something more powerful?

Larger fans are always better, imo, especially with speed control.
But yours should work fire. I'd try it before I bought another one.
I know I really like my 315cmh, the one I got now, the first got to hot, and I sent it back.
As long as it doesn't get much above 80degrees, you should be fine.
GoodLuck with everything, my friend. Your gonna do fine.
