Yields are based on energy consumption. So 400w HPS will yield more if all other factors are ignored.
Now reality is, your t5 could potentially have a larger light foot print...which may fit more plants under it.
HPS can penetrate much further than cfl... so if you have less plants that are taller, HPS would be a better option.
Lots of variables to consider here, your individual set up has a lot to do with these factors.

Another lighting question
Okay so I’m just trying to figure out, will I get better yeilds with 192w HO t5 or 400w hps @ 75%?? I know that dimming the ballast diminishes spectrum and degrades the bulb quicker but I’m not really worried about my bulb life span. I just want to know if I’m missing out on a little better yeild using the t5 instead of the hps @ 75%? Also my plants are not scrog which I know is best for t5. Just 4 topped and lst’d Autos.
