    harvesting

I am having problems as to when to harvest, The trichomes are only half cloudy weeks (2) past max recommend flowering time. I have maybe 10% amber ones. I have this problem with all of the plants I have harvested ( two different kinds of seeds and some mixed seeds). No more than half of the trichomes ever turn cloudy when harvest. I have waited a couple of weeks past recommend max flowering. Any ideas?

Are you looking at sugar leaves or the calyx...always look at calyx's...where the hairs come out...not all will change...at same time...when you see amber on calyx then time to harvest...if you want prime thc...Amber means thc starts to go down...cbn and cbd gets greater.

Hope that helps...we love pictures as well

Hello tone. I have no idea why your plants are not going from clear to cloudy to amber as is usual, but I harvest my plants as soon as I see a few amber trichomes. If all your plants show 10% or more amber trichomes I would cut them down today...like right now. Amber trichomes mean your plant is past its prime and going downhill fast. If some of your buds remain clear/cloudy without any amber, you could harvest the amber buds and leave the rest until they start showing amber. I don't do that just because it's such a pain in the butt, but I have friends that always harvest that way. It is said that the more amber you have the more of a "couchlock" body stone effect you will experience. I don't know, I've never let my plants go to 10% amber.

I read an article somewhere recently (and I'm really sorry, I don't know where I read it so I really can't back up what I'm about to say with facts) that cannabis plants are at their absolute prime when all the trichomes are still completely clear and the stalks and caps look full and puffed up like the Pillsbury Doughboy. The article further stated that when the trichomes start getting cloudy the plant is already past its best. They had some test results to back their claim, but I don't remember the details. I will say that I have thought for a long time that my plants always smelled and looked best at that clear puffed up stage and that overall smell seemed to lessen the longer I let them go. I am rethinking my harvest policy for next year. Please keep us posted on how it all works out.

Clear tricomes give a speedy/racy high
cloudy tricomes give a strong head/pshco high....usually perferable amongst recreational users
Amber gives a couch lock high...body high..uaually perfered by the medicinal users...

        this is all fact...unarguable

Pick as you will when you want a certain high....

thanks for all the responses. i thought that eventually all the trichome heads were to cloud up before harvest.

You can harvest some now, some later, and some still later. Make sure you label them, and see what the difference is for yourself. I would prefer not to smoke than smoke the early stuff. Other people love it. The best time to harvest is when you're getting what you want.
