    A Humidifier that really works?

I'm having a hell of a time trying to get my humidity up to a decent level. I can't get it over 34% rh. I bought 2 Vornado evaporative humidifiers ( 1 for each room) They aren't cutting it!! These rooms are upstairs, and about 8 x 10 ft. Any help here?

I think that might do it if I were growing in a tent, but these are whole rooms with several fans going for circulation. These rooms are poorly insulated as well. I'd have to have 4 or 5 buckets going...

Another question. I had read somewhere that evaporative humidifiers are better for plants than the cool mist ones. The ones I currently have are evaporative, and I had been using them downstairs for my orchids, which are in an open concept kitchen/ living room. They've kept the humidity around 46%(which is fine for orchids) But now I need to up it to 50% or better. Any suggestions? My plants are clearly suffering from the dry air up there.

Evoraporative humidifiers simply use more electricity per the amount of humidity they produce. I wouldn’t say they are any better for plants apart from the fact that they are usually bulkier have more powerful fanning and can get the humidity more directly to the plant in an unsealed grow environment. If your grow room is decently circulating a passive increase in cold moisture content in the air is what you need. Hot wet humidity will simply leave the area through the exhaust as it rises. Cold unltrasonically mister air will descend to the bottom and have to be forced up through the area. So putting a mister somewhere with limited air flow (perhaps a corner) or in between pots or plants would do the best place for a gradual air humidity exchange.

Vegging plants like to be misted with a spray bottle of water once in a while.

Get an ultrasonic mister, the little foggers you see in small personal room fountains that produce cold steam.
you can even get one designed for essential oils in the home and just add water but they often have lights which you can’t turn off.

Make sure you purchase one without and diodes/light as you don’t want it to become a photoperiod control light.

A small one one would be enough for your space, just sit it in water and it will steam and fill the room with vapor. Here’s an example of one.

This same device can later be used instead of a pump and mister nozzles on a true fogponics setup!

increase your vapour in the room till you hit your optimum, if you are increasing humidity too much try putting the fogger on a timer.

Vitaminthc, can you clarify what you mean by " I don't want to purchase one without / and diodes? And, do I put this in a bucket of water? Will it raise the humidity in an 8x10ft room with fans and a carbon exhaust filter running? Sorry about all the questions but I REALLY need to get some decent humidity going in those 2 rooms!!

https://thehouseofhydro.com have quality ultrasonic mister in the U.S. with floating rings if you do feel messing around with fogponic hydro later!

Some of the cheap shit ones have led’s on the top of the mist maker, you want one without lights unless you want interference

Perhaps a small bucket with a few holes so it seeps the vapor out when it fills up, or even a small pc fan on top to really get that vapor flowing out.

I'm definitely going to get a couple of those. I think I'm going to get one of those big plastic bins and get the little fan in the top and put the fogger in the bins that should hold quite a few gallons to make quite a long period Of misting for both rooms. This is awesome. Thank you so much for this. I can't wait to get started!

I'll look into that right now Vitaminthc. Thanks.
