Inovation or a step back ?

    Hey guys,

I was exploring the infinity of the internet and found that ; Its called Seedo and is basically a fully automated fridge that grows anything you want all by itself...

If you haven't heard about it already here is the video : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=etEHm9Cf91Q

It looks awesome ! Great design with some amazing capabilities, Automated A/C, C02 controller, airtight, carbon filter, automatic feeding with EC/pH controller and so on....This thing has great potential, but is that a good thing to grow in there ?

Sure for beginners that don't have the knowledge to set up a grow room like such it's great... BUT could this step forward in technology mean a step backwards in human knowledge ? ...
Yes its great to just plant your seeds and have nothing to do (for some, I would never give up the time and effort I spent on maintaining my plants, absolutely love it) but at the end of the day, or end of the grow, what will you gain, except for those sweet buds of course? What will you learn ? Nothing, poop all, nada ! You'll become a master at using the app to control your Seedo but your knowledge about the plant won't grow much... Now remove the seedo and start a real grow... Is your plant going to survive ?

In my opinion this is great as it gives the opportunity to people who don't have the time or knowledge to still be able to grow and spreads love with this little plant, but at the same time I think this is a step forward to ignorance where people rely on machines or else to do the job for them rendering them usless the day they have to do those same jobs themselves...

What do you think ? Good, bad ?

Wow! Super funny video. But I am very much in agreement with you on missing out on the joy of learning to grow though actual experience! I love the time I spend watching every step of the cannabis grow, and would not trade that for the technology shown. Yes, it may be handy for some, but for me, I want the close connection to my babies. Thanks for sharing! 🌿🌻

Haha yes the video is very ingenious and funny !
      Completely agree with you!
Seeing how many hippies are on the forum I wouldn't be surprised if out of them shared our views on the matter

While it might be OK for someone who doesn't have thee time (hard to imagine though). It is not a tool I would use. I love the time I spend with my plants and watching the daily, sometimes hourly changes. I feel that for mostl of us it is a labor of love.
It's not how crazy I am, but how much I enjoy it that makes me dangerous.

Let's not forgot, we live in a "set it and forget it" (thanks Ron Popeil) society. This is a forum for growers. We're going to be biased. But take a first time growers perspective. No research, no experience, just want weed for cheap, right? Very enticing for a first timer. Get the yields you want and learn as you grow....

Ever seen the movie Wall-E? I shudder at the thought, but it's exactly where we're heading.

Ashamed to admit it, but I couldn't feed my family if there wasn't a supermarket down the street. I don't hunt, don't know much about fishing or foraging. I like to think I could survive if all hell broke loose, with my wits, but I definitely wouldn't be thriving.

Don't worry Royal. As a fellow grower, if all hell breaks loose, I will always have a place for you. It will give me a chance to repay you for your knowledge. Grew up on a farm, I like to think I have the skill set lol.

LOL! I'll bring the family down, we don't take up much room and we're pretty resourceful

I did not watch the video yet, and so have no idea of the cost. There has to be some people out there that this could benefit. Elderly, live in a small efficiency apartment, disabled plus other factors could add up to this being a great alternative to growing the traditional way. If you live in a medical approved state and are eligible to get a card, which would be more expensive, using this new technology or going to the dispensary and buying. That may be a factor.

Now I'll go watch the video
