    Could i use this setup?

Just bought this little tote and want to make a dwc. Its 15L and the dimensions are: 16 3/4"L×11 7/8"W×7"H. I also have 10 3" net pots. Im going to paint the outside of it so there's no light going to the roots. But just wanting to be able to start more than 1 plant at a time. So what do you think?

What resin number is stamped into that plastic? My concern would be leaching. You need food grade quality plastic to avoid such issues.

Plastic Types in Hydroponics and Aquaponics - Article Plastic Types in Hydroponics and Aquaponics - Plastics are used in hydroponics and aquaponics, but these materials may release harmful substances to the water. However, there are a few plastics that can be used in these systems.

Hey thanks for letting me know that. It is a 5 tho so its food grade. But is the size and having 4 pots in there good?

The size is ok for 4 smaller plants. If you want them to be large trees, you will need a larger container.
just remember: larger roots = more fruits.

So I’m guessing that will hold 3 gal when it’s 1/2way full. I grow 1 plant about 3 feet tall by 2 ft. x 2 ft. (l x w) in the same amount gallons using DWC. Depending on how much that basin will hold when you have those net pots in there. I would estimate 4 plants, each one being1 foot tall by .5 ft. x .5 ft. Mind this is a very rough estimate and you will have to dial in your set up. Plant height and width should be based on your light size for max yields.
The real question is how big are your lights, and how do you plan on keeping that small amount of water from heating up?

Be careful with that plastic. I’ve seen a lot of clear containers like that where they shatter under stress (not in hydro setups, just when being used as intended). The Rubbermaid tubs would stretch due to the composition of plastics.

And I've seen them crumble to pieces when exposed to sunlight, ozone, temp. variation etc. over just a short period of time. just sayin'

That’s a really good point. They are not designed to be top loaded.

I don’t think it will need it... just keep them small and start thinking about 5 gallon black buckets with bucket top net pods next grow. ;-)

Well that's actually what im using in my current grow

Hmmm. Why the down grade to a smaller container? Those 5 gal buckets can hold more roots and larger plants.
