Day 11 already??
Pics as of 9pm on 8/10...
DGTH1 does look leggy and straggly and its leaves looked stressed. DGTH2 is sprouting wonderfully! Helmet was stuck on this one as well so I helped it a little.
AI is the prettiest so far but both GCs are doing well also.
Viparspectra is set to 60%

Hmm that's wierd Trichomefarmer88. I didn't have any duds from the 3 I germinated... I want to make a mother plant out of the other 3 so I hope they take. Your dgth aren't looking any better?? Mine seem to be doing much better and growing out of their funk.
-
Yeah just seems like a bad batch of seeds maybe if that happens? Which I'm sureit can? Got 6 dgth seeds an so far 2 duds with nothing an two completely shocked looking things... even tho I'm very careful an all the other strains are doing great? Not sure I called seedmans to ask questions.. will keep everyone posted!
-
Thanks!! Don't miss the other growers out on the Dark Harvest main thread (link in post #1)!
-
I had said something about them being leggy...2 started out with problems shedding the husk so I think they may have looked a little yellow at first. They seem to be growing out of it. I noticed it after Trichomefarmer88 mentioned something about it.
-
It happens! Ultimately we're dealing with nature and some seeds just aren't as hardy as others. The rest of the plants look great.

Campesino Yep, added a new pic above to show the view of the time lapse Im anxiously awaiting. I did drop one of the seeds on the table when I was moving them from the papertowel to their rapidrooters... maybe it was the one that didnt germ? Are seeds that sensitive?
I haven't fully blamed the process yet... was it TF that mentioned their DGTH seeds were looking straglly/leggy in another thread possibly due to helmet head shock? The one that did germ for me looks similar to what they were describing so jury is still out. I'll go comment on that to bring it back up...

Chefbjy I was thinking the same thing! I'm thinking that one is a reprint as I've heard you can order copies of back issues. It's probably not that far off to assume that the one I bought off ebay is a reprint but I'll do some additional research to figure out how to determine authentics...
So - for your first questions.... there was actually a #1 BEHIND the #2 I bought (#1s mint on ebay are going for >$100 and I only paid $15 for the #2 (which had the #1 inside). Neither I nor the guy I bought it from noticed. And, it's in much better condition than the one I bough off ebay... here's to hoping my surprise mag is the real one!
The guy who sold me them claimed that he sold the #1 out of the set for $175! Either he was lying, or didnt realize that the dude who he got them from had 2 1st editions...

After getting back from Vermont, I moved my seeds into re-hydrated RapidRooters and placed into a small tupperware container with lid and placed in a warm dark place.
After my sprouts popped theirs heads out of the rapidrooters I moved them into my 2x4x5 closet tent with a shot glass of water next to them and a larger tupperware container acting as a humidity dome.
By day 5, AI had progressed the most with 1 DGTH not far behind followed by 2 GCs. 1 DGTH chose not to germ so Campesino and I each popped an additional DGTH seed on Day 7. I actually tried to get the one that wouldn't germ to germ again but with no luck (that's why there are 2 seeds in the shotglass pic).
My 2nd DGTH seed is just now popping its head out of the rapidrooter. I have moved all seeds from the tupperware into their temporary home - a 10gal sterlite container (same one from my 1st grow) - while their forever home is being tested (farmerjims diyrdwc 2nd edition - lol). I have a timelapse running on the group over a period of 5 days. Can't wait to watch the new DGTH grow up!

Nerdy Intermission
Hey all, it's been a minute so the next few posts are simply to catchup. Ive been posting most of my updates in pictures to the main Dark Harvest thread but will elaborate on them here in this thread.
First, let me get nerdy and tell you some more about my High Times back issues...
As mentioned above, I bought 2-4 in a shop. Found #1 online and ordered for $50 and went back to the shop to snag #5 and 6 (1st anniversary edition).
Well, my 1st edition from eBay came in the mail. As expected, some rippling from water damage (humidity?) at some point but no stains or stuck pages or ink runs. It was shipped in a couple of ziplocks to protect it in transit. I liked the mag covers from the ones I purchased in person better so I figured I would take one of the mag covers from the other ones to protect this $50 1st edition. As I pulled #2 out of its protector... wait, what is that? OMG OMG OMG....

The REAL beginning... proud to announce that I am an "expecting farmer" lol
I was forced to germinate on the road as farmerjane and I are currently in VT (poor me!)... I'm hoping to summon the 802growgods so they can bless these seeds! Lol the night before I germinated we could see Venus, Jupiter, and Mars (caught Jupiter in one of the pics)
also, was in a vintage shop and farmerjane pointed out a stack of old school High Times mags! They would have bitten me if I was standing any closer... I picked up issues 2, 3, 4, 5 and a layer one with Andy Warhol and a coke bottle on the cover. The owner told me he had sold #1 out of the group for $175! I then got a #1 on ebay for $50 (but has some damage). These will all be framed and hung in the grow room wall I plan on building this fall!
