So I have been trying to track down some issues with my grow. I have been assuming the issue was with the nutrients I have been feeding ( Cogos Part A and B / Cal Mag). After testing the run off after the last feeding the PPMs coming out were 5000+ and PH levels were 5.2- 6.0 between 5 different plants. (That post is under Calcium Issue? if you need to read the entire issue?)
So today I tested the Promix I have been using. I started with a brand new bale.
Filled a 1 gallon pot to the top with Promix. I then poured 1 liter of RO water (PHed to 6.3 and a PPM of 60) over the medium and collected the runoff in a saucer. I did this 8 times, each time I used a new clean saucer to collect the runoff and each time I used 1 liter of water, after collecting a majority of the runoff I allowed the Promix to drain until there was no more run off. These are the readings I got:
1. PH = 5.7 / PPM - 1030
2. PH = 5.8 / PPM = 440
3. PH = 6.0 / PPM =240
4. PH = 6.1 / PPM = 160
5. PH = 6.3 / PPM =130
6. PH = 6.2 / PPM =130
7. PH = 6.3 / PPM = 100
8. PH = 6.2 / PPM = 90
I was under the impression Promix contained no nutrients or anything else that would cause it to run at 1000 PPMs out of a brand new bale.
My Nutrients at full strength say the PPMs should only be 1160.
I only mix the nutrients at 1/2 strength, and nowhere near 5000 PPMs
Could that be why the run off PPM on my plants is 5000+?
Am I correct that promix has nothing added as far as nutes or other additives?
