    Carbon filtered water question.

Hello all. I'm about to start a grow from seed using kind soil. It says on the bag that I need to use carbon filtered water. So that I don't have to keep adjusting the pH because carbon filtered water is Right within that range. I have well water, and when I grew a couple years ago, I often had to adjust the pH. So, is there an easy way or an inexpensive way to create my own carbon filtered water? I have an RO system Reverse Osmosis System, that is a countertop set up, which I use to water my carnivorous plants. Is RO water carbon filtered water?

Greenpassion ,I use KindSoil often myself, all carbon filtered water isn't the same.
You still need to ph, your water, WAL-MART, used to have some that was perfect, but they don't carry that kind anymore.
All I use is tap water, but I have to use Earth Juice Crystals, ph, down, to get it between 6.0-7.0.
Phil don't like ro, water. It's to much of a waste, according to him.
But if you do use ro,water, be sure to use plenty of cal-mag.
Your gonna like the KindSoil, just don't water to run-off.

Thanks for the info. Have to say I'm disappointed though. The reason I bought my countertop RO system was so that I could stop buying wasteful plastic and adding to the landfills. I've made my own RO water for years now. Using the same plastic jugs. Oh well... The sheets haven't come yet but when they do and I'm getting somewhere, I'll keep you posted😊

Morning Greenpassion, RO, will be fine, just be sure to get a big bottle of Cal-Mag, cause you are gonna need it, I'd start about day 7-10, with the cal-mag.
Phil told me that you didn't need Cal-Mag, with KindSoil, But that's not what I've found out. Lol
        Your gonna do great.

      D. A. A. S. 69, how much Cal Mag do I use per gallon? And does Cal Mag change the pH? For my orchids I use magnesium and K light. I've never used Cal Mag on anything yet...

        Greenpassion, I use GHydroponics, 1.0.0.
CaliMagic, and yes it lowers your ph, some.
I always start at about 3-5 ml/a gallon of water. Maybe 1-2ml/gallon, on seedlings, but anyway, your not gonna hurt them with the Cal-Mag. You need to use it every watering too. Or some EpsonSalt, it works fine too.
Good Luck with them, if you ever need any help, just holler.

Is Epsom salt the same as Cal Mag? I measured by teaspoons and tablespoons. At the risk of being annoying and asking stupid questions how many teaspoons or tablespoons would I use of Epsom salt?

It's close but it's not the same as Cal-Mag, it's missing a few things.
I teaspoon is about 5-6grams of powder. Not sure about liquid, just go to the drugStore, and get some pipettes, or big plastic syringes, that's got millimetres on them.
Or you can get them from Amazonian .lol

@D. A. A. S. 69, maybe I'll just try using my well water. If I'm going to have to be adjusting pH and adding things it's just as easy to use my well water. I add Epsom salts to my orchids because they were going into magnesium deficiency. A teaspoon to every gallon has corrected that. It's kind of funny, one of the things that attracted me to using kind soil was that I wouldn't have to do anything but water them and check the pH once in awhile or so I thought.

Its, awesome stuff ,that KindSoil, I've used Mississippi River water, plenty of times on some outdoor grows with the KindSoil, without any problems, never checked it for PH, either. It grew some humongous buds too.

I just use water from our Brita filter pitcher, pain in the butt sometimes as it takes 2-3 fillings of the pitcher to get a gallon of water but after adding my nutrients the PH is more or less in range (I generally need to add a drop of PH Down but that's it).
****tent (2x4) and large light (Relassy 300W LED) is in storage for now until I can solve some household electrical issues****

CoM Stonington Blend soil, distilled water; Liquid Squid amendment if needed, molasses for flowering

I use a brita filter also. The brita brand is faster than the generic brands.

I've never used a Brita filter before. Is that something that you would attach to your kitchen faucet? I've never even looked at them. And using them will give me carbon filtered water from my tap?

You can get Brita attachments for a kitchen faucet; a bit bulky, but all the water will be filtered so no need to mess with a second container.

Its a pitcher with a filter in the top reservoir, water filters through into another reservoir which holds it for later use.

Okay. Thank you for that. By the way what wattage LED lights do you use? I have for hung and a fives by 6 foot space, 300w, and I was going to put a 450 watt in the center. I'm going to try to send a picture. My seeds just came today so I'll be up and running in a few days for the very beginning of my first grow. Growing OG Kush and Northern Lights Auto. I will be putting Panda paper over that window. And having my exhaust and carbon filter go out through there. Do you think the setup will be okay? Is it too much light or not enough?

My leds draw 106w. Lol They are kind led light bars.

Your setup sounds pretty good. Before you get your seeds going turn everything on.

                Watch what the temperature does.

Get a desk fan or similar to circulate air in your room.

Do you have an air conditioner?

I would check for light leaks. You have autos so watch for light escaping from your room, don't worry about light getting in.

You will have a greater requirement for water than I do. The water pitcher may be a hassle. Check out garden hose carbon filters. Higher volume at a faster rate.
Amazon and bigger hardware stores have them.
