COCO COIR Leafs turning yellow, curling up and down

Hello, I have this little problem with one of my plant. I first noticed it 3 weeks ago. At first, though is overwatering, root problems but now I think it might be overheating and I am not sure, it might be a combination of many.

I checked the roots by moving the coco to the side and they looked good.

I have two of the same strain and they look much better and have much darker coloring.

My strain is: Big Bud Automatic from Sensi Seeds

My setup: Coco Coir, Outdoor, 11L box

    Hi Mous

    EeeeK

It looks like you have Spider Mites. I might be wrong, but that leaf damage is pretty diagnostic. See this: https://www.growweedeasy.com/how-to-...f-spider-mites

Also looks like you are not watering you Coco nearly enough - it shouldn't be light brown on top like that. If it gets dry you risk burning your plants with nutes. I put together a guide for growing in Coco and you will find a link in my signature.

But your #1 problem seems to be Spider Mites

    Sorry for the bad news

Thanks for the reply Campesino the foto was taken after few days of not watering when I was trying if its overwatering, the way I water is I put my finger in it like 3cm to check if its wet and when not I water, I check for water every day. As for spider mites I had aphids and I they seem to be gone, checked yesterday. I will watch closely for spider mittens and do one more treatment against pests. And I will definitely check your guide, to know more.

Regarding watering. I water my plants four times per day! You cannot over-water, but you are under-watering. Coco should be kept wet - this is not just to give the plant water, but to prevent the plant from being exposed to high EC. If you want to learn more about how to fertigate in Coco I explain it in my guide.

I really think that you have spider mites - and you should get on that right away or they will destroy your crop!

Happy to help if you have any questions

Campesino I've read the guide and I have to say really good work, I will definitely go and start killing the spider mites and water every day sadly I can do only twice a day as I go out early and come back late. But I will look at your auto watering system. But I am not sure about the nutrients as it says that it's usable only for 24h.

Thanks, I'm glad that you like it!
Twice a day is fine, but hand-watering is a lot of work and responsibility!

I have been discussing a drip system with 24-hour nutes with Chefbjy . I think it can be done, but requires changing the Res every 24 hours.
We've discussed doing it like this: Set up a system like mine. Use a 5 gallon bucket for a Res. Swap Res buckets out daily.

        Daily:
        1. Use the remaining nutrient solution in the bucket to hand-water once per day at lights on.
        2. Set new Res bucket to supply other fertigations.

Campesino yeah I was thinking about (gravity)self-pressured drip system that would do 2 gallons (not sure about this number as I only have 3 plants) a 24h and I would just need to refill it every 24h. Or get as you say 5 gallons and don't fill it to the top but only enough to keep a constant small flow.

You don't want a constant small flow... You want to have scheduled events that produce run-off and then let the media dry for at least a couple hours between events. You need a pump - or perhaps solenoid valves for a gravity system.

At least a couple hours! probably never more than 5x per day. I have a timing schedule in my drip guide.

Ok I took some more pictures before I threat it and I still have some aphids. But gonna spray it now and will return with results in few days. All pictures are a backside of a leaf.

Looks like maybe both Aphids and spider mites! Go get 'em!

Btw Campesino how do I know that I killed them since spider mites are so small, I saw dead aphids today, but dunno about the mites. Is there some telling?

Yeah, they are too small to see. Gotta watch for new symptoms... those dead spots on leaves are bite marks.
        Also look for any webbing.
They can be really tough to eliminate.

I think I killed them now. I tried like 3 things I had home and nothing did the job I even took my microscope to see how they are doing and found them living there. So I made myself an 1% insecticidal soap with one bigger clove of garlic that we grow ourselves and one dried chilly pepper. I was so clever that I touch my mouth and my eyes after that, so happy times. And today after a second spraying I don't see them anymore. I hope that the soap and garlic won't change the taste and smell of the buds as I am coming closer to harvest. I will keep my eye on them to see if they are back.

BTW, how do you deal with dead aphids? They are dead and stuck to the plant, because of the resin.
