Crap! She’s trying to claw me!

Well it looks like the noob mistake of planting her in Miracle Gro (Mackerel Grool) has finally started to bite me in the butt. And right on schedule at 7 weeks into bloom like it happened to BillBates. I just noticed the clawing this afternoon when I went to check on her before the end of her day. i was hoping the long veg might have depleted the soil enough to minimize nitro toxicity but nope. I wish I was far enough along to harvest a bit early, but she seems to be a long blooming strain. She was a bagseed my darling daughter planted and gave to me.

I dont know what what else to do besides give her a thorough flushing in the morning with ph’d RO water. If anyone has any other suggestions I’m all ears.

Grow #1 - 1 mystery bag seed girl, Miracle Gro soil 😠, 32x32x65 economy tent, 450 watt Viparspectra reflector series light, 4” fan and scrubber. Planted in late December. 7th week of blooming.

Grow #2 - 5 mystery bag seeds plants, 60/40 coco/perlite, 18x24x48 indoor greenhouse wrapped in black plastic, 300 watt Viparspectra LED. I’m learning...

It's gotta run out of nutrient eventually, right? Thankfully, mine isn't in mg soil. Mine's in this stuff called Black Gold that I got at the Ace Hardware store. So at least I was able to quit the nutes just in time. Someone will weigh in who knows more than I. Since I had already scheduled my flush, it turned out not so bad. I'd say pHed water & water with molasses every 3rd watering. That's what I'm running to when I'm in trouble for now.

I like that idea, Bill. I was thinking about adding molasses to her feedings and I will once I get her flushed.

It looks really minor so far, so hopefully it can be managed. I would recommend a flushing agent. I am not sure that it will really knock out the heat of the MG soil, but it should be more effective than plain RO water. Sledgehammer or Florakleen.

Isn’t that the truth, Bill. Gotta love this forum.

Thanks for the suggestion, Camp. My daughter is coming out for a visit tomorrow and I think I’ll send her over to the Hydro store to pick some up.

Hey Robear, I've seen nitrogen toxicity, the claw a whole lot worse than that.
Where it was dark, dark green. And every leaf tip ,looked just like a fish hook., lol
Thats about all you can do is try to flush it out, good luck with that. Lol
I forget the name of that stuff, that you buy, that helps clean lots better than just water ,when flushing, but water will help. I sure hope you get it fixed.
Cfls for a week or two
    315lec for everything else
Dug up Ms.topsoil, with perlite added
    36x36x63 inch tent.
6inch - exaust - intake fans an scrubber
    Smart pots
    Molasses
    Autoflowers

      One more thing!
Sledgehammer can be used just as a surficant. It is really pretty cool stuff - Yucca extract
To use as a surficant only, it is just 2 drops per gallon. A truly tiny amount (25 drops = 1ml). I would start doing this right away (whether or not you decide to do a flush, which is 10ml/gallon) and continue throughout the grow in all water. It will help the plant overcome the MG soil. Just two drops!

That really sounds useful. I’m glad the daughter is bringing some out tomorrow. BTW is it good for coco as well?

Yes, You can use it as the flush with Coco, absolutely.

I will recommend that you use SM-90 as the surficant in coco though, especially if you are doing auto-drip. But if not using SM-90 you could use it that way as well - even with GH nutes - no problem.

A fun little article on the benefits of Yucca (this is what Sledgehammer is) https://www.maximumyield.com/yucca-e...-desert/2/1236

That article was very interesting. I just bookmarked the website. Tonight’s reading material.

I’ll be setting my drip system up in a couple of weeks and SM-90 is def on the shopping list. 👍🏻
