    Welcome to the Dark Side?

I am winding down on Lemon Sumpn Sumpn. Began 2 week flush today. I have read several places about giving harvest-ready plants 24-36 hours of complete dark before taking the hatchet to them. What's your feeling?

My feeling is that if you can, do it. I don't think I would go much longer than 36 though.

THC and other cannabinoids are created 24 hours a day, but a portion burn off under the lights. Therefore concentrations will be highest at the end of the dark period. This is true for a lot of commercial crops as well. Wine grapes for example are always harvested before dawn.

Extending the darkness provides additional time for your plant to produce cannabinoids without the destructive influence of the light. However, the amount of time your plant can continue to function normally without light may be less than 24 hours. It will certainly survive 36, but the benefits you are accruing may be small or non-existant at that point.

Thanks, Camp. I want to do it the best I can. It's taking every bit of willpower my tiny black soul can muster just to let it go for a full 8 weeks of flower. I've been weeks without anything, living in fear of taking a fucking drink so I DO NOT want to be the least little bit disappointed when I roll up the mother of all joints in a month.

Yes, get them fkn Mir.Gro shits out. Nebula says from a few days to 2 weeks, I just never heard of such a long flush. If you're keeping your eyes on the triches and they don't get over-ripe, flush away!!!

Yeah, I read that in one of her articles. So, I figured I'd go to the high end of the spectrum..... since I'm an extremist by nature. The fact that I've got a semi-tolerated growroom in the house at all is a miracle. (So to speak). Mrs. Lady just needs one more thing (like spending a bunch of money on a bunch of expensive shit) to push her over that threshold. Especially when it's something that "we already have". She's not a bitch about it or anything. Just uncomfortable.

...and the trichs are cloudy/clear. No amber yet.

My feeling? This whole darkness before harvesting thing is yet another example of magical mumbo jumbo. Do it if you want, and it won't make much difference either way, but maybe read up on some basic botanical science, too.

But if I did that, I wouldn't need y'all at all, would I?

Good Morning BillBates, I'm no scientist, but we have been putting our plants in the dark for 24-36hours every since we read about it in HighTimes magazine 40-50years ago, it might not help, but it sure looks to me like the trichs get fuller, and taller by keeping them in the dark.
We even throw tarps over our outdoor plants, lol
Try it, and tell us your results. Might not be a big change, but if you look close at the trichs before, and after, you'll see that they are larger.

Welp, the fan leaves have started to claw.... I'm pretty sure it's nitrogen toxicity from that damned mgro. I'm happy i chose now (as opposed to later) to flush. Y'ALL TRIED TO WARN ME! I'll admit it. I've been cutting corners everywhere just to get this grow thing going. I hope I didn't wait too long for these buds to fatten up a little more. And I need to figure out what to do for my other girls in flower. They're 2 weeks behind this one & don't show any signs yet but the mackerel grool is out. I ain't using it no more.
