Blooming Boosters. Are they worth it, necessary?

    Hello fellow growers,

Many years ago I witnessed a hydroponic grow from one impressive knowledgeable guy. The grow was really impressive. I remember he used Monster Bloom and Budshell Guano right before switching the lights and the yields and thc production were massive as well as the taste. That was more than 10 years ago and I've been out of the growing community since then.

Are boosters worth it or even necessary?

I'm getting close to switching my light and I use the FF trio nutes.

I found many mixed answers online and the search here didn't bring me anything back so I wanted to ask the people here who have more experience growing. I don't want to add additional chemicals to my plant if I don't need to.

    Cheers...

You're going to get about as many answers as there are growers. Plants need the macronutrients, N, P, and K, and the many micronutrients. That's it. There isn't any magic proprietary chemical that you can add. The most that you can do is adjust the ratios and concentrations. So any fertilizer will do. The nice thing about cannabis- or hydroponic-specific fertilizers is that they make it easy to get those ratios and concentrations exactly right for the plant and the plant's stage of development. And you can read what other people have done with the same fertilizer so you don't have to invent the wheel.

I realize that's not a very exciting answer, but the simple scientific truth often runs counter to what the masses want to believe and what the marketers want to make the masses believe.

2, 3, or 4 bottles ought to do it. For me it's the three-bottle GH FloraSeries plus CALiMAGic since our soft water here doesn't have any calcium and magnesium, and cannabis seems to love both.

Before anyone says, "Dis stuff is da shit!" they should really do a simple A/B test to see if plants grown side by side with just that one miracle thingy as the difference really do show a difference.

    That's my .02.
    Have fun and happy growing.

My advice is that if you decide to use them to monitor EC or PPM. There are certainly benefits to adding different supplements. The biggest risk you face is burning your plants with high EC water. So if you are playing with these toys read up about EC.
You will find that most of your EC budget is used by the base nutes and adding significant quantities of P (in most boosters) will have a strong impact on EC. It is a bad idea to hit them with water that is significantly higher or lower EC than they are used to. Thus, it may be required to reduce the amount of base nutes if you provide boosts of P, and at most stages of growth that is a bad trade-off.
