Cheap led lights and lights out

    Hello,

I am trying to grow my first single plant.

For flowering, I will be using CFLs; 23 watt, 1600 lumen, 2700k for a bit over a total of 150 watt, 10000 lumen.

For veg., can I use some LED 820 lumen, 5000k bulbs that I got at Home Depot for about a dollar each? I don't have enough to reach the same totals as above, but I thought I could mix in some of the CFLs to hit the 10000 lumen goal. This way I won't have to buy more clamp lights and Y adapters.

I read about the need for care when using LEDs so I thought I could hang them above and adjust for growth. Then I can use the CFLs around the edges or wherever the plant asks for light. This would also help with my heating as the LEDs don't put much out.

Any thoughts on the above are most welcome. If I may ask for help on another issue...

My husband plans to build a nice large, plywood box for me in the basement. I will paint the inside flat white, although I have semi on hand. But that is another question. Anyway, the basement temps hover around 60F. During lights out, will I need to plan on a heat source? I suppose we could build the box, run the lights and measure the temp. I was just hoping to get some advice on what the temp should be and what other people's experience has been. I also have 3 electric grow mats, so I could see if that heats things up enough as well.

    Thank you,
    Spanky
