    Organic compost from

So I live in a pretty rural area. Recently my state just legalize mmj, MA. There is a farm near by that sells organic compost and i plan on using that for my outdoor grow because it's ridiculously cheap.
i guess my question would be can i grow my plants straight into the compost ? If I can't what organic steps can i take. Also i dont really want to buy bag soil hence wanting to use the compost . My plan was to only use compost tea. I plan on using 12, 5 gallon buckets. 6 autos and 6 photoperiod plan on starting june 1st .Thank you

I would imagine cow poo would be an amazing base to use, I would use it but down here they feed the cows oranges and green tomatoes so the poo can't grow shrooms! Bastards... been doing a lot of research on the old myakka gold strain that was extremely popular down here in the 80's, . Story goes he had floating islands on the river and seeds were thrown in old Cypress stumps at the Waters edge. The more natural the better.

If it's just straight poo you will want to mix the compost with some kind of soil, perlite or vermiculite. As well as some other amendments. If it's cheap it probably doesn't have all you need in it. Checkout the guide. http://www.growweedeasy.com/what-soi...owing-cannabis

What kind of compost? Composted manure would be too hot to grow in straight, especially for seedlings. I've tried growing in compost only, and it actually hasn't gone that well, a soil with lots of compost in it though, is awesome!! Take a look in the tutorial on building your own super soil for some ideas on what to mix with it. Some peat moss, perlite, and coco coir would be a good start on a base to blend it with, mostly because they offer great air holding capacity, which Cannabis loves. Also, they keep it from being to potent. How much is compost depends a lot on what kind it is, composted manure is really high in Nitrogen, so you have to only use a little. Compost made out of a broad assortment of things, will be more balanced, and you can use considerably more. I would go with something light on the nutrients when first starting seeds, once they are up and have done some growing, Nutrient levels can increase on how they are doing.

Check out the thread Paracelsus has going on No till growing, lots of useful links to organic growing knowledge. Also, watch some of Jorge Cervantes youtubes, he has some good info on organic growing.
I just started using a compost tea bubbler, and kinda shocked how potent the stuff is, really liking it so far.
