    LED/HPS Elec. Costs

Currently running 1000 watt HPS in 4’x4’ area plus one 6” Vortex fan for lamp heat removal. Last grow finished Mar 3rd.
April’s electric bill is a little over $100 less without lamp/fan. So, here is my question:
Has anyone replaced their 1000 watt HPS with equivalent LED (4’x4’ area) and noticed a reduction in electric cost? Pls quote size, brand, etc of LED as I have no experience w/LEDs. This also assumes no need for dedicated Vortex fan for heat removal.

You still want the fan for air replacement and humidity. Look at actual watts not equivalent. Led companies mislead consumers with their "equivalency" ratings.

Air replacement and humidity control are, fortunately, not an issue. Just looking for basic operational cost comparison info.

Fluence, Spectrum King, Black Dog, Chil LED, Nextlight, California Lightworks are some examples of lights that can perform with gas discharge lights and their efficiency and performance. These are in the thousands of dollars. Its the sad truth that most cheaper fixtures do not perform at the same level of efficiency and performance of gas discharge technology. Manufacturers will manipulate information to make their products appear to be of high quality.

Cost is a quick and easy indicator of fixture quality, if its cheap its not high quality. Fixture efficiency and performance is quite simply related to materials costs, these costs cannot be significantly reduced and so the more costly a fixture is the more efficient and effective it can be made.
