    Manually dim digital ballast

question for you all, I have a 1000w digital ballast, and I’m thinking that is going to be a lot of light for my 3x3 tent. Any problem with using a rheostat (fan timer) to control the electricity flow? This ballast doesn’t have a dimmer, but could I effectively add one on without a problem?

Figured it was best to ask before burning my house down.

    Cheers!

    Strange.

No. If you want to dim your light, get an electronic dimmable ballast (or a lower wattage bulb of course). (And bear in mind that even then, a dimmer is going to affect the lamp's efficiency.)
