Hello again everyone! It's been quite some time since I've checked in here. I'm nearing the end of my second grow and I'd like to post some questions for members to think about.
I'm growing 6 photoperiod feminized plants, this time from Heavyweight seeds (3 each Moneybush & Goldmine). These seeds have been fantastic; all 6 germinated within 36 hours and they have been SCREAMING northward ever since. Tremendous vegetative growth (in soil; 50/50 happy frog & organic HD dirt) for 9 weeks then flip from 24-7 to 12-12 (incl bulb switch from 600W MH to 600W HPS). I'm using General Hydoponics Flora Trio for nutes.
I tried FIMming these plants at about 5 weeks but I'm not sure if I did it right or not (last year I simply topped my plants with excellent results). Two of the plants reacted as if they had been topped (no main cola, but two new 'side' colas) and the remaining plants showed no reaction to FIMming. I like the concept behind FIMming, just not sure I did it right. I even tried FIMming twice (some plants) thinking I had not done it right. Can FIMming be done more than once? What is the expected result for proper FIMming? (BTW. I've read the excellent tutorials here)
So now I'm paying the price for not doing better LST or paying closer attn to the FIM process; my plants are WICKED tall and some are showing results of serious light burn. The plants, just over 3 weeks into flower (12/12), are showing plenty of great flowers but I've lost one due to a soil issue (my fault), so I'm down to 5 very aggressively-growing plants. Can't raise the light any further. I've been lolly-popping the main colas away from the light and will continue to do so for the next 5-6 weeks, or until I'm harvesting.
So, after my second photoperiod grow (with very good results) I'm considering trying 'autos' for my next grow, I prefer high THC strains, good hybrids, or mostly-indica types. I've had great luck with both Barney's Farm and Heavyweight seeds, but I'm looking for ideas for an auto grow (5-6 plants) that will meet my needs. Looking for medium to short plants (120 CM or less) that will grow well indoors in soil (all soil grows from this point on will be 100% Happy Frog).
Sorry for the long rant but looking forward to replies and ideas from members - Thanks in advance!
