I just set up a 16xl double barrel system. I didn’t not clean the system as I got it brand new . Was I supposed to thoroughly clean it before I started? Second of all I’m two weeks in veg. I’m feeding it some Nuke Heads Uranium VEG , hydrogaurd and some ph down. I’ve just noticed that the water in my totes now smell like gas and I have no idea why. I really need some help because o think it’s effecting my plant.

Howdy Crcrider1989, You also need to keep the reservoir water cool (64° to 70° F), well aerated, and completely free of light leaks. This with the regular (every week to ten days) changing out of the nutrient water, will help to keep the reservoir 'fresh' and will help the plants as well.Smoke weed,.....grow peace!

Dw2 thanks, I didn't know that about hydrogaurd

Cool DW2, I'm getting low on Hydroguard, and wondered what alternatives there are.

Sonnyhad, I forgot to say that I use 1 gallon milk jugs for the water and nutrient mix, I do not have ready access to water in my grow room (closet), so I fill up the milk jugs the day before a feed or topping off the reservoirs. I put the FloraKleen (2 to 3 ml/gal) in and then adjust the pH to around 6.0. At the beginning of the feed cycle it takes 12 gallons and at the top-off it has been requiring 2 1/2 gallons per reservoir. My reservoirs (10 gallon totes) sit on a plank on top of two inverted 5 gallon buckets so when it comes time to drain them, a 5 gallon bucket just fits. Carrying the water into and out of the grow room is about the only exercise that I get, except for jumping to conclusions and patting myself on the back! LOL!

I use straight tap water, straight into the 7 gallon latch-tote bins. I fill my bin in the bath tub, drop in an air line for about an hour while I mix nutes, and then check pH. I lift the lid, with the plant, schnorkl and air-tubes installed, and set it right onto the fresh bin. I've never even had a problem with chlorine.Nothing is foolproof for the sufficiently talented fool.

No worries, Sonnyhad . I just pulled that one on @DAAS69, it was pretty funny.
Here's a picture. I take the lid (with the plant and everything installed in it) off the old bin of nutes and set in on a fresh bin.1 PhotoNothing is foolproof for the sufficiently talented fool.

I hope this is helpful for you. It's super easy to mix up the nutes, and just swap it over. If there is a trade-off, it might be stressful to her to lift her root ball like that. But they don't seem to complain.
And nothing is as relaxing as indoor-gardening in your jammies. I think everyone will be doing it soon.
