Wel...l did it again, but like before you can see the dates to get an idea of the progress. Even though a good number of the pistils were still not red/orange the trichomes were cloudy with a few amber so I harvested them 2 days later.

Thanks to all who commented. The thing I learned from this was that it can take longer than predicted but worth the wait. I hope it helps someone who's trying to decide.
Just got back in from the wilds. Its getting cold up here_ when I woke up one morning my buds were frozen! But since there wasn't much moisture in them they thawed out pretty quickly.
              Ahhhhhh...relief !

Thanks everyone_ the camera I'm using is a sony with a 100mm macro lens. Set it on auto color balance and use daylight to light them. That way you get true color on the trichomes, otherwise they may appear too blue or yellow. I took those photos primarily to examine the trichomes. Gonna start my next grow first week of January and am going to document every week of development until harvest. Going to grow one everyone has heard about and likely a lot of you have already planted_White Widow (Dinafem), and then some that I haven't seen much about_just cuz they sound good_Skunky Monkey (Heavyweight Seeds),
Colorado Cookies (Dutch Passion), S.A.D. (Sweet Seeds), Ayahuasca Purple (Barney's Frarm) and Gold Mine (heavyweight Seeds). Anyone planted these before_ comments, advise, etc. all appreciated!

Oh yeah, be careful to not mix your lighting sources_ like with the lights on inside the house and also using light coming through a window at the same time. Even with auto white balance the camera will have a hard time trying to decide what is neutral. A good bet is to use a flash because it will overpower any other light source and is very close to daylight, or just use daylight if possible. If you use a background that is neutral_white, gray or black_ it is more accurate. You want the color balance to be as accurate as possible with a neutral background_ because then you can see the true color of the trichomes, especially when they are clear and begin to turn. When I first used the macro lens I freaked out a little because I saw these things that looked like they might be seeds and was afraid the plants had been fertilized or I had stressed them into developing both buds and male flowers!!! Sent some pics to GWE and was told they were fine_ i was just seeing Calyx's_ that would have developed into seeds if fertilized. Relief! These calyxes contribute to bud density_ the more of them and the more swollen they are the denser your buds will be. Both genetics and development help determine this as well.....
