    Lighting dilema

I'm a first time grower and I have some doubts about my lighting for my autos. I originally started with a 105w CFL (emits 525w) soft white with 2700K. i had just planted my 4 autos. They were under this single 105w soft white CFL for about 4 days. I started to notice that most of my little plants were stretching a lot, their little stems were getting longer but the leaves weren't really growing much. My first assumption was that the bulb was too far away and the plants were struggling to get light, so they were stretching to get closer. Re-reading some articles about lighting i found out that the light spectrum wasn't the correct one for this stage (vegetative). Did some more research and figured it was best to get some daylight CFLs for this particular stage. So now i have 4 18w daylight CFLs 6700K, one for each plant. I have my setup all in one space, the big soft white 105w CFL in the middle and under each pot i have a small 18w daylight CFL a few inches away (about 4inches). My concern is if the amount of watts that the small 18w CFLs is enough for the right vegetative growth. The big 105w CFL is giving out enough wattage but not the correct spectrum, the small CFLs emit the correct spectrum but maybe not enough wattage for a good grow. Am I correct to assume this? Should i do something differently or change the 18w daylight cfls for something bigger? First time grower here, some insight would be great!

You could look into dual led lights where they having a veg and flower switch or get a cheap led with full spectrum you can save on electric bills and depending on the area size you can go with 1 or 2 lights

You are correct about your lights. If all you can get are those cfls, then crowd as many as you can into your grow area.
      And welcome to this forum.
Not sure which part of this world you are in, but you should try and get better lights than those cfls. Only because one is constantly moving them around and trying to get as close to the plants as possible. Sometimes even having the plant growing right into the light. And yes they do grow that fast, I had a plant that grew 24 inches up in about a week.
      Good luck growing.

I have them all sitting side by side for now. Once they start growing bushier i'm going to get more powerful CFLs until i have enough money for a 400w Sodium bulb. I was just wondering if what i had was enough for a decent grow until i save up some money. Just trying out stuff and seeing how everything works out. I'm from Argentina btw. Thanks for the info!

Ahhh, Argentina, Maradonna and the 'Hand of God.' Hehehe
The plants will grow and do their thing. Your yield will suffer, due to the low amount of wattage you are using. But they will grow.
