they work fine for reducing the ph of tap water

    2-400w MH/HPS bulbs
    sunshine mix #4
    mega crop nutes

Ultimately you're just acidifying the mixture and any acid should do, so yeah. pH Down is phosphoric acid so it actually contains a plant nutrient, which is a good thing. GH pH down also has citric acid and mono ammonium phosphate, probably as buffers, I'm guessing, which would help to stabilize the pH (which is what buffers do), so you're getting a little more in the bottle than just acidification (and more P in that mono ammonium phosphate).

Do be careful with acids of course. The rule is add concentrated acid to water and never vice versa.

Yep, combine acid and water in alphabetical order. A > W.
The other way around and you can get yourself well splashed with acid.

Expensive, and the citric acid probably breaks down? Organic, though. I'd save it for the tequila.

$0.99 For the plastic squirt bottle of concentrate it'll last for a three plant grow plus. Everything breaks down, no?

Oh of course. I used to have a lemon bush right outside my kitchen door so I thought of squeezing whole fruit.

Is that a philosophical question? Mineral acids (HCl, H2SO4, H3PO4) are more stable and MUCH more poweful than organic acids like citric or acetic (lime juice or vinegar).

Still, I kind of like the idea of the using the green, lime-shaped squeezy bottle.

Don't overwork the big brain Doc.Its the weekend LOL The lemon does well also. Our water here squirts out of the tap a little over eight on the old pH scale. Once you get the feel, about a two second squeeze in a gallon jug brings it to that sixish sweet spot & that's good enough for me. and yes ?
