To trim or not to trim

Greetings fellow growers. I have a question for us to kick around. I have a little lady. She’s a Northern Lights that is in her 4th week of flower growing in DWC under a 600w HPS light. She is covered in early buds and THICK foliage. Check out the provided pic. My question is, should I thin out this growth at this late stage to allow better light penetration or just let her be. I’m interested in hearing some experienced grower’s input. So let ‘er rip.

And by the way, I’ve been at it now for about a year and a half and still learning something new with each grow. I’m what I call a hobby grower. 1 plant at a time. And she gets all my attention. My last OG Kush yielded 4.4 ozs. Of cured bud. Not too bad for a relative rookie.

    Grow well. Be well!!

Very good job on your first grow! 4.4oz is a good pull of bud's on any single plant. If it was mine I would pull some leaf from her, but if you are going too do it soon as the 4th week is about the best and last time for a good defoil.

Yeah, I'm with MrFurley, you got quite a few leaves to remove. Sure is a nice healthy looking plant.

I agree, defoliate as much as you can stand. I wouldnt go overboard tghough. The plant looks beautiful with many bud sites. Nice job.

I agree, remove some fans to open her up to light and try to get rid of dark shady spots.

Agree with the fellas. Start with the leaves covering other budsites and remove the lower foliage to allow airflow under the canopy. Great plant

Ok. Message received. Yesterday I took down all of what I call reachers. Those are the older fan leaves that had long purple stems. I also thinned out most of the undergrowth. I went as far as I felt comfortable with. So now its hands off for the next 4 weeks.

Thanks all all for your input.

              Grow well. Be well.
