    Electricity

Electricity is not cheap but running 3000w won't break the bank especially when you consider the yields.... I've seen people who don't grow have power bills higher than me but it's still slightly on the inefficient side.

Here is to transparency: my power bill for those who are considering growing a triple one thousand watt perpetual grow!

Roughly an extra $150-175 monthly additional cost on top of current bill.

      @Chefbjy
Glad you could join I was going to post this on a different thread and talk about our situation. Yea that Includes my space heater. January is the potential extreme. I think simply growing more per run and including a light rail will be my next move. I thought about scaling down to 600w bulbs (luckily I have digital, adjustable ballasts) also but that kinda defeats my growing mantra. I like things overkill.

I'm thinking it was a little less my wife said I did my math wrong but $125 an oz is still good for some killer smoke and my first time with 2 plants. If I were to move my grow in that kind of space I would probably do the 3 @1000 on movers too. Pretty sure it would get hot but nothing an ac wouldn't fix. I run 2 window units in the summer and like 5 fans and my bill still isn't all that much. Highest in winter lucky enough to have $100 power bills in spring. With my lights probably another $50 so I'm thinking just by comparing last bill. And can't wait for my yield results. For the money spent on the ballast I'll get my return from clones at the very least. With plenty of smoke from the moms to keep money in my pocket. I love my mh/hps.

    Hermaphroditing
So when breeding cannabis is it a good thing to breed genetics for a dioecious cannabis plant instead of a monoecious plant? Lol....
    #bagseed
Ah.... the dreaded "ballsacks"..... From the plant's perspective, this is a milestone in the evolutionary chain of adaptation. Truly a hallmark, what once took two now only takes one, downsizing at its finest. However it sucks for the breeder and for the future of growing cannabis. I'm tired of seeing this in my grow room but there is no reason to be upset as it has been stemming from my own habits of growing bagseed. It is what it is, perhaps the clones will be of less headaches.

The wierd part: the male pods are not releasing staminates with pollen, instead they open with pistillate growth. This is what has me posting about it because I haven't seen this before. I hypothesize that the plant grows the male appendages in advance preparation of a forseen stress event and decides at a certain point wether to commit to pollen or pistils depending on the immediate circumstance. Luckily, right now I'm dialed in so not much stress in the grow room. I will definitely be monitoring the outcomes of these pods and assess the viability of future runs with this strain and keep some photos specifically about these "appendages" - now I'm not sure what to call them. "Jenners?" Oh no...

Hmm they're growing pistils? I would pluck them off with a wet paper towel and keep an eye on it. Hope they're just large calyx. With a couple seeds will still be killer smoke. Good luck.

I don’t think these are “ballsacks”. My Girl Scout Cookies have them and I thought that at first but then they grew pistils! There are 2 at almost all nodes. All the males or Hermies I had were lil bunches of them. Keep your fingers crossed I think they will be ok!

Yeah, may be calyxes. Ball sacks wouldn't have pistils. Like BlueBudz , I had similar on my GG4, but all developed pistils.

        Same day, more drama.
        March 24, day 30

One of my 1000 watt High Pressure Sodium bulbs stopped working today. Lasted 10 months of ownership but the other is still working for now.

I would give a 2/5 star review for Genesis brand 1000w HPS.
Owned for 11 months, used for 10 months. Off for about 6 weeks or more during those 10 months . A conservative estimate would be
        10 months x 30.5 days = 305 days times 12hours
= 3,660 hours of use MAXIMUM (actual was up to 25% less, im over estimating)
pretty crappy for a 10,000+ hour bulb supposedly
I got about 1/3rd the useable life span out of this bulb.
Harvests were good I never complained about the performance of the bulb, just lifespan / longevity.

        For the Journal:
Switched to Ultra Sun SUPER HPS today, raised the light an extra 12 inches.
-This journal focuses on 4 plants under one hood, however my room has an additional 1000w hood over a different series of plants. Those plants are being harvested so I turned down that hood to 600w to save some kilowatts but still provide that overlapping and extra light. Now this Bruce Banner grow went from 2000watts the last 4 weeks to 1600watts (but with a new 1000w bulb).

        Good Looking Packaging
        Spectrums slightly different
Look at the damage to the heat shield. Could be the culprit and I think that is my own fault from bumping into the hood / raising.
