    Royal Nugs rant

So I've recently expressed some of my concerns regarding the corporatization of some popular brands in the cannabis world. I don't expect anyone to agree with me, rather understand why I have a hard time recommending certain products.

While this article is biased, it presents a concerning problem. With the ongoing legalization, more people are growing than ever. Corporations are poised to swoop in and "capitalize" the industry. The only way to prevent this, is to hit them where it hurts. Their wallet. By boycotting their products the consumers would have a say in how this unavoidable transition goes down.

Hydroponics nutrients manufacturer General Hydroponics has been purchased by a subsidiary of Scotts Miracle-Gro.

I've said before you don't need the high price food to get a good yield , all the growing stuff coming out is priced outrageously. Adding 5 things is lots to me but I get good bud so cool. Right now with the cost of growing buying would be cheaper But I like mine it's better then retail.

I love my country........I hate what my country has become. Corporate greed, while no longer our biggest problem, is certainly high on the list. Scotts will take once quality made products, find every way possible to cut costs by cheapening said products for a higher profit margin. I understand your rant. My rant goes much deeper, but I will not go there.

Unfortunately, this problem you present, just like any other, requires the masses to get on board. That rarely ever happens. I feel your pain brother!

Therein lies the problem. People are not informed or just don't care. I'll continue to do my part by educating and informing those that will listen to my lunacy....

Since April of last year I believe. They now own Gavita and Botanicare as well.

I use advanced nutrients in hydro.

If you want a cheap nutrient that works well, I've heard dyna-gro is good.

What are switching to? I only have experience with AN and GH. I'll probably just go back to AN. I'm on board with the corporate boycott. Lets freeze em out. But insomniac is right...it'll never get traction.

Dyna-gro is what I use, And it works wonderfully! I plan to experiment, but as a first time nutrient, it's doing wonders!

I have to believe Hawthorne is licking their chops with all the converted states. California will be the focal point. Keep an eye out at your local Home Depot and Lowes. I wouldn't be surprised if you see more cannabis based products showing up on the shelves.

Hey Tika! I was just wondering, want don't you like about Botanicare? Is there something wrong with their products or is it something about the company itself? I only ask because I really like their "Hydroguard" product for DWC. I'm always interested in learning more about nutrients, and I love hearing people's experience with different products!

            Hi Nebula!!!!
. I tried Botanicare coco pre mix with perlite . Stayed too wet to long. Not dissing the entire company (yet), but the coco coir mix did not pass. I went back to Sunleaves bricks I think then to other s That said I don't mean any mass critique...just don't like the product I tried
All cocos care NOT equal. There are others in my future to try like Promix / Sunshine etc.
point is all cocos are not the same and new growers need to know that while examining what effort they wish to make imo.
currently for coco I still recommend Platinumn Cyco til I test another for my environment 3 to 1 mix perlite
Ready mixes just don't do the trick by BotAnicare...for coco

Wow, that is really great to know about the Botanicare coco! Thanks for sharing, I think I will add a little warning on the coco page to avoid that one! Is this the coco mix you're using now that you like? I thought I might add that as a possible suggestion since I know your plants look beautiful I also saw it's available in Australia, too, so it would be cool to have a suggestion for our friends in the southern hemisphere!

When something works why would they change it when buying the company it's a money maker. I do want to go with the emerald harvest but I have a gallon each of the HG.

nebula with my fish I use a product called Api Stress zyme plus, it has a live bacteria in it to consume sludge it's cheaper then the hydoguard and I think are doing the same thing? Is it?

I use it once a week in the fish tank changing water.

I did a little research and Api doesn't want to share its bacteria contents but i think it would be a good candidate because it eats sludge, at half the price of hydroguard ...I wish I had a tub to test it out for you. My fish thrive and I have live plants in my aquarium.

              Hi Berry

This gravel with live bacteria starts it, then you put live plants in, have grow lights on the tank. The fish fertilize the plants for you.
As in growing pot the better the light and adding c02 you can have the most beautiful tank planted.

I'll post a shot of my tank :-)

            In my opinion only
coco coir to me is as important as nutrients
and those two need to co exist
dont think it is a ready made package
